I have a chance to buy these for $75 for the pair....anyone have any idea what they are? The lady is going through a divorce and has no idea what brand these are?

Looks like White Van specials, Im sure they produce sound but the look will just kill you. If you plan on using them at home , go for it, but I wont gig with those.
Upon a closer look, they also look as if they've been peed on by a couple cats, and served as scratching posts as well...
Do they even work?

They look like Nexxtech speakers. Radio Shack sold them in the 90s. If I recall correctly they were made but not branded by Cerwin Vega.

I'll also bet that the drivers are car stereo rated and not pro quality.
Save your money and look for a cheap pair of Yammaha S115s.. you can normally find them very very cheap and atleast they have pro quality components in the box. I believe all the drivers in the box were OEMed by Eminence.

That particular configuration and box was used by several different sudo DJ speaker makers!
Gemini, Gem Sound, Pyle, Radio Shack are amoung the few that I have seen. A crossover is non-existent as the cone drivers are wired full range and the piezo tweeter is wired direct with a resistor in the line. And yes I have had two different brands apart for a look, I repaired a set of dual 15" Gemini's and a pair of Gem Sounds exactly like those pictured here and they were the same internally.
I actually got fair sound from both sets by building a minimal crossover for each one, not great sound but much better than what they were from the manu, you still couldn't give them much power though!

You'd be better off to just toss the $75 in the woodstove. Those will make your ears bleed.
