I had stopped my ads a while back and forgot to start them up again. So about 3 or 4 days ago I changed my ad and started again.... Today I booked, not 1, but 2 parties from my paid Google ads! :sqlaugh:

One is a wedding and the other is a combo bubble party for the kids, and birthday party for the dad..... What's cool is that the combo one is $600 for a Sunday event... SWEET!!!! It's like found money because the event is next Sunday.....

Anyway, I wish my Google ads had been working like this all along... If they had, I would never have stopped them!

Google ads are how I make most of my sales -- on the other hand, they are evil money grabbers, and you have to watch them closely...

I don't think they do what they do on purpose, but all they care about is that your ad gets clicked, and they make money. So they place them most, on the sites that get the most clicks. That doesn't necessarily mean that's where you want your ad, or that the people there are potential buyers of your product or service.

You really have to invest a great deal of time and effort, to get Google ads to pay off. Never let them run your campaign though -- it'll only pay off in occasional hits, and mostly misses... ;)

What happens when you stop your campaign for a bit, is that the algorithm starts from scratch, and applies your ads across a wide spectrum, to start feeding its money making engine. So, you are likely to get some hits. Once it settles in, you are likely to get more misses.

I stop mine on occasion -- reboot as it were -- and sales go way up :)

Oh, I don't do the partner ads. This is the sponsored ad when someone does a search directly on Google.

Doesn't matter -- they lie, and show them anyway on partner sites (just not as often). I've played this game with them for 10 years now, and have hundreds of thousands "invested" in them. ;)

Use the content network, and manage your placements. The search network alone, is vulnerable to competition to click your ads to deplete your daily working capital. If you say adverted for kids parties, they would place your ads on relevant sites that say sell party supplies, etc. Use lots of image ads, not just text.

Like I said, it's a lot of work, but you can also make lots of money... :)

Well, like I said to atomic, the most I ever paid was about $12 for a month. Usually, but not always, my ad pops up when you search "Philly DJ". Besides, I think I have a $40 monthly limit.... But hey, you just made me realize I need to fix my keywords. :)

Really now? I gotta take a look into that. Is there a $ per click or do you pay say $20 and they just do what they want.

You can give a monthly or daily limit, as I recall... But I know that I would never go more than $50 a month unless I was getting real solid leads.

EDIT... I just checked... my daily limit is $3.75, and my average click is costing $1.07

There are a few ways to do it...

You can set a daily limit for example, and let Google bid the amount. Or you can set a daily limit, and you choose the max bid amount per keyword. Etc...

You can also schedule ad campaigns for specified hours of the day.

Lots of options.

One of the biggest things to take note of, is don't choose the entire world to see your ads, if you're a local DJ! People from Nigeria will be clicking on your ads, and eating up your daily allowance. :sqerr:

Me, I sell 50+ % overseas, so I need my ads shown there -- you probably don't. Target your region.

So you get 3 clicks per day? or allowed 3 clicks per day? Seems kinda low.

I am going to have to check out this system. What Google service is it? AdSense or something like that.

And Why wouldn't I want my services shown over seas? Think of the mileage fee that would add. 3500miles multiply by $.52 a mile... :sqlaugh:

Well, I can have as many as I am willing to pay for...

But like Rick mentioned the ads are subject to abuse. Say you have an ad, and a competitor doesn't like you. They see your ad and click on it a few times just to cost you money.

I figure if I get 3 clicks a day, and one of them calls, I have a good shot at booking them. But I don't want 20 clicks a day if it is just someone trying to make me spend money.

Supposedly, Google is supposed to prevent that to some degree. I don't know if they really do. BTW, IMO, even if they don't click, my ad will show until the cash for the day runs out, so the "impressions" might help a wee bit.

AdWords.

Adsense is for putting Google ads on your site (you get paid for other peoples ads getting clicked on your site).

BTW, I never go over 15-20 cents per click... Anything over that, and you better be selling houses for $300k+... ;)

What I just found interesting was I used my website to set up keywords for the Adwords. And it had wedding dj, dj wedding, etc etc. But nothing about the area I service. Which I have mentioned on the site about 20 times if not more. It's in the meta tags, website description, and about everything else. I am not sure why it's not picking up that text.

Especially when you search, 'Long Island DJ' It doesn't even list my site, which is what I think people would type in my area if they are looking for a DJ.

Thanks, I did a Google search and it straightened me out with that. For my keywords, It is saying $3.86 per click for 'long island dj' Kinda crazy I think.

You do have an advantage, IMO... That is that there are only - I am guessing here - only 20 DJ software makers who really "count".... You have a well established and quality product. Plus I am sure you rank highly in non paid search. My site is not even on the first 3 pages of native google search. :sqerr:

If I type in "Philly DJ" in Google search, I bet it would come up with maybe a 100 or more DJ's.

I know of a "well known" Seattle DJ who claims he spends like $6 per click. He used to post here, but was removed...

I think I can get more value per $ if I do a 'referral' system. For every sweet 16 or graduation party etc we book and your name gets mentioned, we give you a $25 mall gift card.

But I guess we still need clicks cause other wise we wouldn't get the gigs in the first place. :sqerr: My wallet is hurting already.

So far today, I have gotten 643 clicks. If you consider that I sell my product for $129.95, you can easily see that I am not willing to spend more than .15 cents or so per click. Most of them come in way under .15 cents.

That's where the conversion ratio comes in -- how many sales, versus clicks.

BTW, If I stop my Google ads and rely on search, I make no sales on my search results (well, maybe one a week -- not enough for beer) :sqwink:

If you don't mind disclosing the information, How many of those clicks actually turn into paying customers?

Small percentage. Depends on who or what I'm targeting at the moment, but generally under 3%, and often under 1%.
