Hey Guys,
My name is James Morrison, DJ tMMPo, and I started my company, Mo Music Productions, in 2004 at the age of 12. It has been a steady growth ever since, as I have now DJ-ed numerous weddings, races at the VA Beach Oceanfront, School dances after proms, and so on. I am a Sophomore at Virginia Tech, and I brought my trailer with all my equipment up here with me, looking to get more into club DJing, not for the money, but for the experience of it all. You all have been by far, the nicest group of forum DJs, I have found and it goes to show that there are great people in this business who I can turn to and seek some advice/assistance.
Just to give you a little feel for what I have done, so hopefully some of you could help me, I'll put some pictures here of my setup. Basically, I my system includes, 2 K12's, 2 Behringer B212a's (Backups now), 2 Harbinger Dual 15", a JBL Powered sub, LED lighting, just moved from the M-Audio Xponent to the Numark NS7FX, various other rack gear for a more "Ear-Candy" sound, and I run everything off a 17" MacBook Pro.
I never had a real DJ name until recently when a couple of my buddies on our Drumline and I finally came up with DJ tMMPo (Pronounced "Tempo", Taking the "M,M,& P from Mo Music Productions, which is logo-ed everywhere). I figured that is the least of my worries, but a step.
Now my question, and I apologize for all the babble. I love Mobile DJing, weddings and all those, but my favorites are when there is a dance floor packed with people at a Sorority formal, Ringdance, Benefit rave, as I am sure is your favorite as well. My goal is to somehow get into a dance club, or a bar with a dancing crowd, this year at school, and this summer, back in Virginia Beach. Where do I start? Do I put together some kind of CD? Do I take a business card into the Club managers? How do I get into your realm?
I appreciate all the advice or comments you can take the time to write! Thanks!
