I have a friend that picked up a 8 box Peavey DTH rig...
I'm not sure exactly how old that rig is, (But it was pretty beat when he accuired it)
They stripped them down, and referbed the whole rig. Bedlinered them, new corners, and connections...Everything was tested to be sure it was working to spec...
I mixed there band on them at a street dance last year..And HOLY CHIT!
That was a great sounding rig! For CHEAP! They did have a good share of time in it, But they are really glad they did. As for what they have in that rig, You would maybe....maybe be able to buy (2) newer, Comparable speakers..
That rig was marketed between 88 and 2000!
I had 4 DTH 218s, 2 DTH 215's, 4 DTH 5s (210s and a 4 inch horn) 2 DTH 1s (1 15 and a 4 inch horn), 4 DTH monitors (15 and a 4 inch horn on a wave guide), you put 20,000 watts on that thing and then sit back and watch the building crumble!
When stacked they were 17 feet tall, laid out left and right it was 2 218s standing side by side, 1 215 laid on it's side on top of the 218's on top of that were 2 210's side by side (splayed) and a 215 on top of that (upside down so the horn was in the same plain as the horns on the 210's!
I sold off part of that rig to a band about 5 years ago and the rest to DJ's since that time!
While I do miss the sound of that system, I do not miss lugging it into a venue and setting it up! Hell, each sub was 198 pounds and each 210 was 156 pounds, the 115s were 103 pounds that weight adds up quickly! and painfully! LOL
what boxes did they get? they would be designated DTH 218S, DTH 215S, DTH 1, DTH 2, DTH 3, DTH 4, DTH 5, DTH ML DTH MR.
You would have loved watching two people put that rig up! LOL It was so simple to do, everything was laid out on the floor setup with splay spacers and tips for the mains and then strapped together with ratchet straps, then the whole thing would be stood up! It took at least two real men to stand that crap but in a gym you could throw a rope over a rafter and take a lot of work away from the setup!
