Wow you're supposed to be a DJ and you had the nerve to make that post. That's just plain tacky and ghetto.

What does being a dj have to do with making that post? Your friends charge people to attend their birthdays and events, and you call me tacky and ghetto. Your the king of tacky and ghetto here my friend. Just go back and take a look at some of the post you make here and other sites. I have seen people packing iced down coolers in their vehicles for years. The true drinkers never want to stroll into a dry event without being prepared. I don't drink hard liquor, and might only consume a 12 pack per year, so it's never been an issue for me.

If people are showing up at a spot that I'm playing, and the bar doesn't have what they drink, what do I care if they get their buzz in the parking lot?As long as they are working the buzz off on the dance-floor I'm cool.

You should care that they are outside getting buzzed. If you were the owner what would you rather have, people outside your place drinking booze they bought somewhere else or drinking in your place making you money.?

My concern at first is not getting people up dancing at a bar. I like to see them ordering drinks from the bar. That's how the bar can pay you and afford to keep you there. I've had nights where they don't dance right away. I used to be bothered by that. Not any more because once they have had a drink or two usually they will get to dance.

Yes, the OWNER should care .. apparently in your case, they don't care enough to have the right ingredients for the audience you say wants you.

YOU should care if you have promised the owner you would bring in a crowd.

What do you do about this situation? I came by there last night for a quick minute. It was only a few and I do mean a few people in the place with a DJ playing. This was Saturday night and it was dead. I doubt if it got much better later on. The DJ is very good.

Jimmy not trying to be funny here. You said you used to own a place. What did you have to offer in your place to get the people to come? At least in the Private Place Lounge she would have an appreciation night for the people who supported her for all those years and sometimes have food for people to eat. Just a nice way of saying thanks for coming there. What gimmick if any did you use to get people in the place?

What do I do about it. Nothing it is not my bar I am hired to play music not fix their bar. They want me to do that that is a separate charge and they cannot afford me. I didn't need gimmicks for people to come in. I offered good food, good drinks and a good time.

Thanks Jimmy. You offered one thing this place doesn't. You cannot get food from this place. One big thing you said is good drinks. That means a lot because real drinkers know the difference between a good drink and a so so drink.

Here is where things are at. That issue is correct about the place not having the stuff people want to drink. The problem is that the wife is controlling the money and she rarely comes in the place.

So the guys hands are tied. I don't know if she doesn't trust him or what the issue is. All I know is the barmaid that is there when I first come in to play said last night that the reason people don't come there is because they don't have what the people want to drink. That's the barmaid that worked in the Private Place Lounge for years. So I know she knows what she's talking about.

So how many of you would continue to come to a place where they didn't have what you like to drink? It's one thing to just run out of something but every time you go there they don't have what you want to drink. I know when the Private Place Lounge was open they kept the place stocked with what the people wanted to drink. Especially when it came to the people who were the regulars who came there at least 3-4 times a month spending their money. So not much can be done until we can have a meeting with the wife.

I'm not that picky , I'd find something to drink if I like the vibe of the place is far more important than the drink selection to me

Especially if the entertainment is the World Famous Mix Master Macho Man !!

No it's not that at all. Obviously the people who come there think it's important.

I haven't drank in over 20 but when I did drink at the end I drank Hennessy and Corvossia. Beer was Miller, louenbrau and Private Stock malt liquor. I hated Budweiser and Heineken. If that's the only beer they had to drink I would pass..

But .. If they really wanted to see YOU, they would have drank Ripple.

Let me say this and I'm happy to say this. You all remind me of myself. I wasn't a heavy drinker. People who aren't real drinkers will say what you've said. The 2 big points I'm trying to make is for them it is a big deal. It also sucks because I can't control the situation. The solution would be too easy for me and yet I'm not in charge.

So, since you spoke with the barmaid, what are the liquors that are missing? Hell, find out what they want, buy a case of it yourself, and serve it at your dj booth/table. Make up one of the postcards you like to give out, and your can put on it "come see the amazing Mixmastermachoman, I'll be laying down fresh beats, and pouring out treats". I bet your crowd would increase immediately.

Most drinkers have a couple of things they like to sip on. They do that, because not every bar has everything.
Every time you get a bar gig and it's not doing well, you blame the owners, or someone else. It's amazing that the common factor has never been mentioned as part of the cause. YOU
