Weddings What do you think of this response?

Look at the number of times you said, "I, me, my" compared to the number of times you said, "you and yours". Is there anything in your response that would make the bride call you? Probably not. And, isn't that what you want? I totally agree that no one wants to educated. I contend that if...

Can someone steer me where I can get some sound effects

Are you looking for scratching as in a DJ scratching, or like a needle being dragged across the record.

I broke down and posted an ad on Craigslist

I think it's a nice ad. One of the classiest ads I've seen on CL

    Thought I'd Give A Visit

Unfortunately, yes, I'm still "hanging out". Someday, I'll lose the weight.

Why do some put down others for not being a computer DJ?

Holy cow! He must carry a whole lotta 45's. I went kicking and screaming into the digital age. In fact, I didn't fully go digital until last year, and never looked back. I have a feelng that most of the folks here could care less about the medium you use, only that you do your best with what...

Go get 'em, Eddie. Giving yourself a raise is not a bad thing.

Let's see if we can get away from the gray area....LOL

I would say that after 9pm would be too late. I know that I don't like getting sales calls after that time. If you get their voice mail, leave a msg and ask that they call back with a best time to call, if they don't get ahold of you. Most people work until about 6pm. So, if it's a bride, I...

First for me tonight at the Wedding Ceremony.

A lot of folks thought I had retired. Thought about it plenty of times. Turn 55 this year, to the thought does cross my mind. BTW, Cesar, I do use 15" speakers most of the time (the new EV models, to be exact). My wife and I closed the party shop a few years ago. Sorry to derail this...

    Thought I'd Give A Visit

Hey, Bryan. Haven't been here in a very long time. It's good to see many who I haven't seen in a very long time.

How would you have answered this lead?

Absolutely, you should have given them your name and number. Other than an email address, was there any other way to contact them? If you're relying on your website to sell your services, you will be sorely dissappointed, IMO. Not saying that your website isn't good (mine leaves much to be...

    Thought I'd Give A Visit

Thanks, Chuck. It's always nice to be remembered. Actually, I never stopped DJing. I think it's in my genes (or, is that jeans?). I may have slowed down a little, but I don't think I could ever stop.

First for me tonight at the Wedding Ceremony.

Never at the ceremony, but plenty of times for the Grand Entrance of a reception. Sounds like fun, though. BTW, I haven't been here for a while. Is this the same 15" speaker Cesar? :)

    Semi-Retirement a-comin'

Just for the record, I am not going to work for Peter Merry. Also, I talked to Mad Joe Martin yesterday, and he warned me NOT to call it a semi-retirement - at least, not outside of these boards. It's the kiss of death. I can see his point.

    Semi-Retirement a-comin'

Thanks, everyone. I have signed on with a company as a sales manager, then in about six months or so, become a national sales trainer. I'll still be able to some DJing, just not the hectic schedule I've had the last few years. I'll still be around.
