    New cold sparks

Yeah I’ve seen this and know someone who has this. It’s definitely not something I’d put in a guests hand. I look at it like a co2 gun in use. I’m not sure I’d consider investing in this anytime soon as I have 2 concerns: - venues around here are already cracking down on regular sparklers with...

I just ordered some new speakers.

The speaker is very capable… like I said I have four original k12’s that I utilize at least one of at every event. They’re rock solid. The k12.2 are a little louder but the trade off is their reliability. I hope you have no issues at all. GET CASES! If not willing to invest in qsc branddd...

I just ordered some new speakers.

It’s nothing to do with user error. It’s faults in the firmware. The original k12’s are more basic in their function, which as a result has fewer issues. The k12.2 are more capable with additional features, but it’s also created more issues as a result.

I just ordered some new speakers.

I was waiting for someone to say this. These don’t quite have the reputation of the original k12 series. There’s a lot of firmware isssues and if you look on eBay there are countless people offering repair services for errors that appear. If it was me I’d get a used pair of the original k12’s I...

    I agree on some

I think everyone has to make the best business plans for themselves. While for you, the physicality of the job takes a toll, for me that hasn't hit yet. Although I do make sure everything is on wheels and I always have help to minimize the lifting and physical toll. I think it gets harder around...

I think that's where age comes into play. By your age I'm not expecting to rely on djing as my income. In fact my financial goals/investment strategies have been built upon a phasing out in my early 50's. Your goals may be different than mine with a 20 yr gap. I'm still seeking to grow my...

I guess the majority of people have a vision that is within that "bubble" that you view as a negative characteristic. As a business though, I want to appeal to the most amount of people that are willing to pay my prices. To improve my chances I must connect very well with those age groups and be...

Again, this isn't 2005 or 2015... I truly encourage everyone on here to go on social media platforms where the 25-35 yr olds are aka instagram and tiktok.... especially tik tok as there's more content there. Don't look at posts from who you know... look at feeds from actual brides and couples...

With exception of that list being a bit excessive (95 song requests is unrealistic for a typical 4hr reception), I don't see how that list is much different than what I would expect. It has your fun older songs, as well as a bunch of songs relevant to the couples age group and reminscent for...

The thing is what I’m doing is not just in the NYC/NJ/Philly area. I’m fortunate that I have clientele everywhere. Over the period of 2023-2025 I’ll have been or be going to the following areas: Winston Salem, NC (3x) Fayetteville, NC (2x) Norfolk, VA Falls Church, Va Danversport, MA Lancaster...

I do NOT choose every song at my weddings. Maybe 1/10 weddings am I given no playlist. However EVERY wedding I do I have a very precise idea of the direction I'm going in and the framework to the night. This all starts with the planning process. During my finalization one month before, when I...

Most weddings? Respectfully, I can't recall the last time I got an actual request from the couple themselves for line/participation dances. In fact, I can confidently say that I've seen multiple brides shut down their guests at their wedding who came up to me requesting a line dance (guest would...

    I agree on some

In the days of Tik tok advising brides to do things their way (aka screw the older guests if that’s what they want), numerous negative reviews originating from djs deviating from the couples wishes, and couples wanting hype/social media worthy weddings (hence the rise in content creators being...

    I agree on some

There are lots of other songs that exist that work for crowds of all ages (mj, earth wind fire, dancing queen, whitney houston, madonna, dont stop believing etc). Also has to do with demographics... if you do younger weddings, 25-35 yr olds dont want all the same songs that were being played at...

    I agree on some

With the exception of get low (which I only utilize one verse/chorus from), there is no song on there that I play routinely. The list is fairly accurate to what a typical wedding aged couple (25-35) would not care for or more realistically, feel are overplayed.

What are your thoughts on Yorkville NX 25 12" speakers?

A older friend of mine who does a ton of senior parties during the week shows up with two qsc k8’s and says they’re more than enough.

Sam Ash Closing over 10+ stores

I, and many of my dj friends haven't touched or heard a piece of equipment that I bought in almost a decade. Like a lot nowadays, if you're paying top dollar for an item, a lot of it is word of mouth and taking the time to research what you have interest in to make sure you're getting the best...

Well a good reason to understand social media

Hashtags are irrelevant. Algorithm uses the actual content and keywords in the post. Also Facebook is nonexistent almost to the current bride and that age range. It’s all about instagram and TikTok

Looks like my van was stolen.

An umbrella insurance policy, at least the one offered to me, covers you in terms of liability beyond the scope or amount that the standard business liability insurance covers. This is usually in instances of when you are the one responsible for the liability such as property damage, physical...

Looks like my van was stolen.

this will vary within your state more than likely... but there are different insurances based on the situations. Homeowners insurance will cover issues on the property itself. But most insurances will limit this to just a few thousand. This has to be on the property itself. A public street or...

Looks like my van was stolen.

Valid points. I’m just trying to find comparable to what he had but more efficient in terms of weight and transport and function (the mic he had wouldn’t work in his area well).

mix all you need is the following: - mc6000 $400 (used for $300) - rcf evox12 system (more powerful than any event you do) $4000 used on fb marketplace w/ covers - a cheap rockville facade $149 - a shure slxd mic (g50 band)- on sale for $600 miscellanous wires and other random components...

Playlist & Game ideas for overnight teen lockin

I just did something like this last week. During the background segments it’s basically today’s music that’s not so danceable, or recent danceable music that’s not being used during the midnight party. Keep it familiar is all. And yes it’s ok to drop in a random oldies like queen or footloose or...

    Community dance

The reality is few on here are trying to be innovative or evolve. Most are just continuing the same pattern of things that they’ve been doing since 2010. But that is generally the state of the industry as a whole. The innovators know they can get more eyes on what they’re doing via YouTube and...

    Community dance

I think the nice thing about the basic option is that it helps show the value of the all inclusive and will make people gravitate to that option on their own. But also offer an option for those that want to save money overall, but still allow you to make money.
