Actually, I'd argue, they are. The client is the one who is designing and bringing to fruition, their own vision. We, as vendors, are simply being used to facilitate and create that vision.
I would absolutely decline the request, and I would be acting out of my own personal integrity - not as God.
He is perfectly free to find someone else to do as he wishes.
I have never measured or perceived a customer as imperfect. When our fundamental perception of both the person and my role is so out of agreement that is sufficient cause to decline the job. I don't fix people.
A person who cannot acknowledge the beauty in their own self, denies me the beauty of honest work.

You trumpet, time and again, how you'll move heaven and earth to make their vision reality. Then, when it comes to the subject of photography, which you don't even do, you go to the mat in calling those of us who will do what our clients ask, liars. It's not about ME judging them, it's about THEM judging them. To turn down a customer because they have low self esteem, or are self concious about some physical mark, because they deny YOU anything is way out there Bob. Way to make it about you instead of the customer.

If you walk into my office claiming to seek photography talent when what you really want is psychological help it's dishonest and I will decline.
Compensating for you low-self esteem is not the job I want. Go somewhere else for that.
On behalf of my client, I find this post HIGHLY offensive. A guy walks into your office, after having dealt with extreme physical handicaps for a lifetime and you proclaim that he needs psychological help is outrageous. Boy, for every time you've taken a swing at someone in this form, claiming they were letting their ego get in the way of delivering a requested service, you just topped them all. It's disgusting.
Calling a handicapped individual, mentally dysfunctional, is beneath even you. You should apologize to this group.

Sorry tunes but this one just got to me. That client is/was solid gold and when I've read multiple posts from Bob, inferring that the guy was mentally-defective, all because the client wanted his eyes fixed in his wedding photography, it just incensed me.
