This google map shows the amount of accidents still on the road at 10 pm on a Wednesday night Rush Hour due to less than an inch of snow. Just the first flurry of the year.

My brother's X Wife has been stuck on 495 since 6 pm. ...Over 4 hours, and she is still on 270N. People on my Face Book feed are still trying to get home from work in the DC Metro area, and they got off of work at 5/5:30.

Glad I don't have any events this weekend for this 2+ feet of snow that is coming. I'm staying inside, eating hamburgers, watching TV and drinking rum and diet pepsis all weekend. ...Maybe some beer too...I need to stop by the Liquor store tomorrow  ...Maybe there will be an uptick in wedding inquiries since so many brides/grooms will be home all weekend!

Yeah, I have to go to downtown Richmond this weekend for a wedding, I'm REALLY hoping it's not as bad as they are saying it could be

Yikes. WELL...USUALLY Richmond only get's a few inches of snow out of these storms. I feel like the Fredericksburg area is the southern boundary where the snowfall accumulations typically increase greatly. However, Richmond seems to be in the 18+ inch zone according to NBC out of Washington

NBC4 Washington Weather

...There are other weather sources I trust stating 30+ inches for the Baltimore metro area...They are all warning this will be a crippling snow storm and possible hundreds of thousands with out power (Dear Lord, please keep my power on through out this storm!...Amen)

I'm making a liquor store run. Perfect time to drink a lot and come onto ODJT and post stupid stuff to keep things entertaining! :reallydrunk:

With that said...My Brother has a 70th Birthday party at Martins West for Saturday night 7 to 11 pm. The client emailed him yesterday morning wanting to make sure he has 4 wheel drive because the party is still on...

I told my brother that Martins will come to there senses and tell client the party is cancelled because they can't get their staff in there in this storm, and client will have to re schedule. ...If that doesn't happen, then he needs to tell them he can't make it and return the deposit. ...It's a $400 gig...totally not worth risking life or car accident for. The party should seriously be re scheduled for next weekend or week after.

They are calling this snowmageddon 2010 all over again except this storm will likely have even MORE SNOW! that Blizzard in 2010 sucked. Getting the cars shoveled out was a pain in the arse. Good news is that Monday has a high of 44 degrees here in Baltimore...should be closer to 50 degrees down in Richmond...a lot of snow melting to occur on Monday so clean up shouldn't be too bad. ...Of course over night freezing on Monday night will suck when it drops back down to 29 degrees.

gotta Love Maryland and VA area...the most diverse weather in the WORLD.

I have another prediction. They will cite the Bad Weather to blame when the stock market crashes further next week and week after that. Which is further from the truth, but watch the DOW plunge below 15,000 points, and gas go below $25 a barrel and that will be their first reason to try to divert everyone from the truth that the economy is Slowing down to a near stand still.

Let us all know how you got to the gig, and how things went. Honestly, I would have to refer to my contract and state that if there is a state of emergency declared, and if there is more than 10 inches of snow on the ground...I'm not showing up, and the wedding should be cancelled and rescheduled.

So you guys don't know how to drive .. what's new?

I know how to drive :) ...Accident free in the snow. However, this area is awful when it snows.

Buffalo get's 5 feet of snow, and MAYBE schools are closed 1 day, back open very next day. ...here 18 inches of snow cripples us for 3-4 days and school is closed for the week.

Go own to Atlanta, and the city is shut down over 1.5 inches. ...I heard the entire state of Georgia has only 45 snow plows.

More than 4 inches of snow here would be real unusual, but 4 inches closes everything down. I have a Jeep, so I can pretty much go where I want. However, my DJ gear is in a minivan, and that is not so easy to get around in. I could probably get a couple of speakers, controller and laptop in the Jeep, but it won't be necessary because I simply don't take gigs this time of the year. Even if you're able to make it to the venue, loading and unloading is a disaster waiting to happen, and half the people or more don't show up; the power fluctuates if it's on at all. Not worth it! I agree on Atlanta .. was there once when less than 1/2" of sleet shut things down.

It's everyone else that doesn't know how to drive it seems haha. Honestly though it comes down to us having less equipment to properly treat the roads / prepare than states further North in my opinion. In a snow storm a couple years ago, road was a solid sheet of ice and some idiot in a Camaro was out trying to drive and i watched him just spin out completely in front of me and fly off the interstate, he was going 55 on ice. Luckily everyone was okay

I wish my ex-wife was stuck in a blizzard somewhere... sadly, she lives in Arizona. If there was ANY justice in the world, a huge blizzard would hit there and bury her under 10 feet of snow... OH... sorry... did I actually express those thoughts in writing???

I'm gonna be listening to the "scanner radio" app on my tablet this weekend. Should make for some interesting stories...kinda like those old time live radio suspense tales...only this is real.

OK...Governor declared a state of emergency for tomorrow and all weekend long. County school systems are already announcing closures for tomorrow to be safe. Better safe than sorry...I am predicting schools closed through at least Wednesday so my son has a 2nd winter break starting tomorrow.

I was called into working at the hotel tonight (Still on their roster as a call in employee). I will work tonight and earn a small pay check in a couple weeks. I am sure they will ask me to work tomorrow night, and all weekend long, LOL...No Chance in that happening!

Groom just called me to say his Photobooth just cancelled. I called a couple of my friends with Booths, they all said no way. Guess he's out of luck on that one! I may be the only vendor crazy enough to try. They can't get a refund on the wedding venue or caterer if they cancel even due to weather, they still have to pay everything so i'm gonna do everything in my power to be there. I am protected by my contract for acts of god/weather related cancellations so that's a plus. However, this is a friend also so im gonna give it my best attempt.

Winter tires help immensely for winter driving. Southerners don't get enough snow and ice to switch to winter tires. All season tires would help somewhat.

I love driving in the snow ... and realize that folks south of us are hobbled by states that don't invest in gear they only use occasionally. I haven't used snow tires in ages .. most good all-season tires and AWD will handle most things we get here. If I lived in northern NE, I might opt for the snow tires, as they seem to get more powder than we get ... ours is slushier.
