Starting out FPV, Yes , have a spotter ! Start out in wide open area ( No people or property ) till you get comfortable. For the FPV, wouldn’t you need to have a spotter? Don’t you need to have the drone in sight?
Have fun!!

I have both the DJI Spark and the DJI Phantom Pro 3. Both great drones. They’re also easy to fly due to gps. The Spark is great for taking quick photos or vids because setup is quick. The Phantom takes a more professional photo and 4K video. Spark with the controller around 699. There is a newer DJI called the Mavic Pro. 3 mile range, 4K video, compact. About 1300 bucks for the fly more package, which you’ll want regardless of which DJI drone you buy.
Great drone. My son has the same. I use mine for photos and occasionally a video. Range is not an issue for me. Line of sight mostly. Makes me nervous when I can’t find it in the sky.Got the Mavic Pro with the fly more package...2 extra batteries and a few extras for $1049. I also got the care package for $99 which allows me to send it back twice for repair or replacement if I crash it.
For the precision landing, it actually takes a picture of the home point at 30 ft above ground level. Without that, the gps gets it back to about 5 ft of home point. So a distinct marking on the home point helps. If it's in the middle of a black parking lot, not so much.GPS is a good thing.
