Grund Audio really cheap?? Are you kidding me? obviously you are referring to price, because these things sound better than anything else out there!! Grund Audio ROCKS!!

There are a LOT of great brands that don't get attention in the mobile DJ side of things...

Bag End - If you want BASS - and DEEP bass - these things will play down to, AND BELOW 10Hz.

Community - I have a couple Community 18" subs and for 'front loaded' subs they're actually quite good.

I've heard good things about other brands that have limited distribution like Carvin.

And there ARE some people who use Behringer and other brands... For example, I take cheap 'bang for the buck' stuff to bars so my 'good stuff' doesn't smell like an ashtray and stale beer at a wedding. I can't imagine using $5000 worth of PA in a bar setting that will be TRASHED. If I owned the place I could see it because you can find ways to protect it that a mobile DJ might not.

I honestly don't think it matters what brand you use. You should use what works for you and your clients. Bigger names are bigger because they have more avenues to sell their products AND they market their products and people are happy with them and they tell others.

That doesn't mean a lesser known brand is automatically not a fit for what someone needs.

Everyone has different opinions on what is too expensive, on what is too big, too small, too heavy and too light.

Use what works for you. Don't listen to someone that wants to bash the brand you are using unless they are using it too and are willing to come to your events are see how you are using them and offer positive advice you can use.

When seeking advice, only listen to people that like to talk about the positives of what works for them, not the ones that like to spend most of their time telling what's wrong with equipment they know nothing or very little about.

I borrow some Grund Audio Monitor's from a local sound guy...

One of them had issue's so i took it apart, And lo and behold...The boxes were
loaded with B&C drivers! I couldn't believe it

Aaaamen!!!!!

Only for example-Eros Ramazzoti used EAW on one of his European tour. Before that he was using Mayer Audio like Pavarotti.

Of course I forget to mention few Brands like:Martin Audio,Dynacord...

Marco, I doubt anyone on these boards has a clue who Eros Ramazzoti is...

Would it make you feel better if I told you that EAW loaded many of their cabinets with RCF and B&C drivers? EAW is great stuff.

Another brand you don't hear bmuch about anymore...Bag End speakers.
Back in the late 90s, they were more common among mobile DJs....not so much anymore.

As far as passive vs. active (powered) For many years I went that route, but found active to be better for me. Less problems.

I have a bunch of EAW speakers for my mobile applications and love the sound quality.

I'm 46 and can still throw around 100 lbs pretty effortlessly, so their weight doesn't bother me at all.

One thing is for sure, I DON'T sell my service on brand name recognition. LOL

We actually use EAW's for our tops

Hey Marco Cam uses Turbo Sound but the ITalian and Spain products we dont see over here. Some reason EAW has eluded the DJs here at the mobile level. Known but not used and used mostly in clubs.

We have two sets of EAW's. One is the JF80... the other I can't remember but I think it's JE100. I'd have to double check. Looking for another set of JF80s.

For Bagends, I still use their 18" sub drivers but they are expensive to buy and expensive to recone but as already stated they do go low!

Another plus to the Bagend is the closed box and relative small size that can be used with the driver (2 cuft) the disadvantage using them in a closed box is it requires several of them to achive a decent DB level!

As for what drivers are in a particular brand of speaker box you just never can tell, I know for a fact of several "pro sound" companies running big EV and JBL rigs that when it comes time to replace a driver some how Peavey BW's end up in those boxes!

RCF and Yorkville, all Active. RCF for weddings (tops+subs) for larger events Yorkville Elite LS750PB (tops) and LS801PB (18") subs.

Dynacord D-lite 2000 passive with Dynacord DSP244 audio signal processor. The sub115s get me the lows I need and the tops D12s are very loud and clear. Very compact and light weight. I have hyperthyroid. I am In my 30' s. I am not in very good health. those speakers are light and compact in order for me to carry them, otherwise It would have not been possible for me to carry on as a mobile DJ period.

They also have the Voice Coil tracking protection that I love. If the system is properly programmed with the Dynacord DSP 244 you can play as loud as you may want without ever clipping the system day in and day out.

When people usually see those small compact speakers with a D logo on them they usually assumed DJ Modernsound does not have enough sound, every time i start playing those same people would walk up to me to ask me what are these little compact speakers consist of? not only the DJ skills are usually too much for them plus the system always sounds so fresh and so clean and heavy.

People keeping telling me I should go powered speakers, but I'm not sold yet. I'm using Behringer speakers and love them. I've listened to other brands, but at high volumes I can't hear the difference in my speakers and others. So, I'm keeping my money.

using what works for you and what you think sounds good should be the first thing.

I looked at the D-Lite 2000; sub and 2 tops. When I learned the tops are not Active but Passive, I excluded them from any further consideration. I wanted the tops to be Active so I could use them for Ceremony w/out sub. Secondly, the price was extremely high! However, the sound is phenominal. I already had an system consisting RCF tops (12") and subs (15"), all powered. Great system for Ceremony and small to medium weddings/parties.

Ultimately, I went with Yorkville tops (15"...750 watts) and subwoofer (18"...1500 watts). I have to use my DJ trailer to haul this system. When I do larger events (400 to 750 people) the Yorkville system is perfect.

If Dynacord ever makes an 18" in the D-Lite series, I would most likely purchase it...even if the tops were not Active. :)

TwinSpinDJ, You are partially right about Dynacord D12 they are passive, but Dynacord did later on released the D12A which are active speakers OK!

In addition Dynacord has a Sub118 with 18" woofer.
