I can't because I don't advertise on either. I think a long time ago I was on Wedding Wite or something like that and I stopped advertising on there many years ago. No results and I was done.

WEDJ is not weddingwire Mixy. A big difference in cost.

Mine either...I got a call from them one time telling me how they could fill all my dates for the low sum of $2500I said that is an awful lot for fill the one date I have opened LOL

I advertised with them about 8 years. I'm convinced they were faking up leads, especially at renewal time. Their sales tactics were always high pressure and their ROI was pitiful. If there's a class action, I'd like to be a part of it.

I have thought the same thing.

2019 pricing in central Ohio wasn't that high, I didn't think. When Weddingwire no longer offered a paid-in-full upfront discount I said goodbye plus the rate was going to be $300 more to renew. I still receive 8 - 10 leads with the free , Lite listing. Only book two - three a year with maybe 8-10 leads.

I have had a free listing for maybe 9 or 10 years, and I think I received 1 lead from WW in 2021, and nothing in 2022 or this year yet. They call me every year though. When they do, it's 3 to 4 phone calls along with an email, and then they don't bother me again until the next year. The last time I had a paid listing it was I think around $130 a month and that was with all discounts applied. I did not even book a single wedding that year. The previous two 12 month stints I had with WW I booked like 1-2 weddings each year from Wedding Wire.

The last time I got pricing from them, they told me like $4,800 a year LOL. Honestly, Wedding Wire is worth IMO $299 to $399 per year, or maybe $35 to $40 per month if paying monthly.

They have been way over inflated in price for a long time. They are simply a sales team designed to collect as much money as possible from vendors to maximize profits. You are more or less paying the piper to grow the pockets of the XO Group (Knot WOrld Wide Executives/CEO or whoever it is that owns them now).

I really does amaze me that there are still plenty of vendors who pay them a crap load of money in 2023 that have been established and in business for 20+ years. I don't get why the continue to do so. I think out of fear of becoming slow with business out of anything else. All these vendors would likely book the same net number of weddings without advertising on WW and The Knot.

The Knot and Wedding Wire are both involved in class actions for scamming advertisers

I'm not surprised. I tried Wedding Wire years ago. Got a few very low budget leads spread between lots of member DJs. The were supposed to limit the leads to a small number of advertisers. I talked to one prospective client who told me they got solicited by WAY more DJs than they were "supposed" to. What a scam. WW tried to lock vendors into a year contract so I just quit paying them.

To me, these sites were no more than throwing a small amount of red meat into a large pit of hungry dogs. It seems as though their longevity has been signing as many ignorant newbies and holding them until they figured out the advertizing tax write off was not worth the cash outlay and resulting income. That'd be me too, way back when. I've always learned the hard way.

What was true back then remains so true today. The best advertising in the world is potential clients attending one of your events seeing you in action.

I've been getting fat on that for almost 40 years ;)

Never listed with either of them. Can't think of a single paid listing with any similar site either.

I was fortunate to do very well in response to my own website many years ago while the www was still quite young, When these listing sites came along I figured them to be just two-stepping the search process on a national level and that my own site should do just fine locally. I was quite happy with the results - at just $10.95 /mo for hosting,

I have a really good referral rate now generating local work, so the web is not really a concern for me. When I finally get around to updating my site it will be much more transactional in nature instead of advertising over a broad area.

Anyone of such sites are designed to make as much money as they can. If you're willing to spend $4,800 a year for their service, they will gladly take your money.

Let me ask this question and I'm being sarcastic. A potential client wants to pay you a certain amount of money. Would you tell them that's too much money to pay me for my services or accept that they want to pay that much? Of course you would accept it if it's what you were expecting to get paid.

Same thing with them. If you agree to pay $4,800 a year for their service then so be it. For that kind of money (not that I would pay that amount) they would have to guarantee that I will book at least 10 jobs within the year.

I have never had a potential client tell me how much they want to pay, that’s simply not how this business works, they ask what I charge

I'm not convinced that you book 10 jobs within the year on your own. :p
