I clear roughly $5k per event. IF they actually produced quality leads that would help me put dates on the books, I'd pay it in a heartbeat.
Good for you. I wouldn't even if I had the money to spend because if I can afford $3,000 a month to pay them, then I would say I'm already doing well, why would I need them? If I had that much disposable income then that would say I'm doing fine on cloud nine.

I have a hard time knowing where to invest. I'm a complete tightwad. That said, I have a photog friend in Nashville who told me recently that he's spending about $2k per month on advertising (google adwords). He and his wife does nothing but elopement photography. They're currently booking $20k-$30k per month. Just generalizing, it seems that 10% is a pretty good number to invest in marketing for your business. On my venue, I have a couple of improvement projects to get done then I'm intending to jump my spending to $1k per month, with plans to take that to $2.5k per month. You gotta spend money to make money.

The old standard used to be when you are new up to 20% is not unreasonable as you grow use the sliding scale backwards until comfortably established then no more than 5%. Of course like most things it wasn't written in stone but after a few years WOM should have you pretty busy

I have free listings on both, Ive booked some business thrrough WW with the free listing, the sales calls never bleeping end with them, I ended up blocking the numbers they called from to get them to stop.

If the wedding wire platform was a Valued LEGITIMATE Advertising Platform, their prices would be listed right on the website, would show VALUE, AND it would not require multiple annual sales calls from them to obtain your business.

I came to realize many years ago...If a JOB OPPORTUNITY requires them trying hard to sell you on the job, then you know it's going to be a low quality, low or no pay job opportunity. MLM organizations come to mind as the perfect example.

Same goes when you are a customer looking to buy something. If they have to hound you to get you to buy into whatever they are selling...then it ain't worth buying. Things that are worth purchasing and are wanted by the consumer will be purchased by the consumer with little to no reaching out and contacting after they inquire, or when the prospect has seen or been shown the service already.

I don't even bother calling prospects over the phone after they inquire with me. I simply send a single email follow up, and ask them to schedule a phone call with me if they are interested in finding out more about me and to see if my services are a great fit for them. They already have a price, and they don't need to contact me for a price either.

They just called me to renew at $1800. I called my rep and informed her that ain't happening. It was $1400 last year and I thought about quitting then! She's supposed to see what she can do closer to actual renewal time and get back with me. I also told her I read everything I could on the legal matters and that I'm not a happy camper with them right now.

Is that $1800 per month or per year? Even if they came back at half the amount, I wouldn't renew with them. They are a dishonest, scumbag operation that fakes leads and web stats.

Per year. That is steep, imo. Especially for a P/T DJ that only does about 30 events per year on average.

They must have less presence, or have lowered prices due to average incomes out there or something. For comparison, the last price quote I received from them which was in 2019 they wanted like $4,855 a year. I had to laugh. Good thing I didn't bother. In 2020, I didn't even earn $4855 all year with my DJ business!

I feel like it's worth it for me. I paid about 8k last year for WW + Knot, and even though most leads are trash. It only takes 2 booked gigs for me to make money.
