I got this call early this morning, and it made me sick to my stomach. I have a friend who used to work for Behringer who said the same thing. Anybody want to buy a Midas Venice 160... only a few months old... going cheap now. :(

I don't see anything good coming out of this either....

Often, with these buyouts, there will be a brain drain. Expect to see some key people with Midas and Klark Teknik in the unemployment line soon.

It might make Behringer better

I wouldn't laugh too hard at Behringer...

They've built some incredible manufacturing facilities, and their bottom line is doing very nicely. They'll probably end up buying many of the small shops, and acquiring all their technology. Thus becoming the defacto ruler of the industry... ;)

Still think they should make mufflers for karaoke wannabees... :D

It might make Behringer better

A friend of mine who used to work for Behringer said it will much more likely be the other way around. Midas boards will be built with the exact same components that Behringer boards are by this time next year. I truly hope he's wrong.

An XL8 mixing console carries about a $300,000 price tag... hard to imagine the justification of using Behringer parts for that.

The question now remains Ben...

Since Behringer has probably the best audio manufacturing capability in the world (as we know it) -- can they not make it better...?

I guess we will see. Right now the XL8 is used by an industry "who's who" list. We'll know a lot in 2 years when we see who is still using it. I am just hoping for the best. I have used and loved Midas products for years.

Behringer has been contract manufacturing high end goods for many other companies for years..

Just because they pump out decent quality gear at low prices doesn't mean they're not manufacturing wizards. I've read that many other companies model various procedures after Behringer's.

It's not that they try and fail at making high end gear, it's that they succeed at knocking out nearly disposable gear at insane prices..

They're really good at what they do.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that Behringer's facilities have been churning out midas boards for years...

If there's one thing I learned in My manufacturing days it's this... Dewalt drills and Big Lots Drills are assembled by the same 16 year old mexican girls on the same manual assembly lines 3 feet apart from one another...

Solectron, one of the contract manus I dealt with made NCR's ATM Machines, Wiring harnesses for ford cars, Auto Defibrilators, Cordless drills, and My Fiber optic splice enclosures... All in the same big room.

China is China, Mexico is Mexico... everyone gets parts made there no matter who they are..

My experience with A&H left an extremely bad taste in my mouth for their products! The board I purchased GL3000 spent more time in transit for repairs than it did in use. It may have been OK in a perm install situation but everytime it was transported there was a failure of one kind or another, as soon as the warranty was up they didn't want anything to do with it anymore (neither did I)!

So far I have not had the experience of using any excellent products from Behringer so far they have all been one year throw aways!

Denon's 9000 was another bad purchase that I have under my belt as well!

Other bad purchases were the Monster 3500 PD unit, and EV amps!

What I have had excellent longevity with have been Rane mixers, DBX, Peavey mixers, amps and speakers, Numark CDN 90 and American DJ CD players, Crown amps, and Bagend Speakers (as long as I am the only one using them)!
