Though I now see I missed the free exhibit hall pass. And it isn't even worth the $30 it costs to go in, IMO. I have nothing I want or need, really. I am not sure I'll even go at all, now. The only reason I did want to go was to see Cam and a few others.

There are plenty of free exhibits-only pass codes around. I'll see if I can find you one & PM ya...

Cheers.

Joe

I just got an e-mail with a free Exhibits only code. I'll PM ya.

I hope I will be able to make it to at least 1 day of the DJ Times Expo, just doing an Exhibits pass though, so maybe we can meet up in the NLFX both.

Talking with Kat last week, I don't believe there will be an "NLFX Booth" per se...

But it sounds like some of them - Kat, Andy "Cubbie" Powell & ? else may be there for Blisslights....

I believe Ben will be out on the Mobile Beat road show @ that time.

That's enough NLFX for me. :sqwink: Maybe Krysta will be there...

Someone should bring a kiddie pool......

True statement Joe... you and Heather were a God send for me!

I am unsure at this time who we will and will not be there with but I fully intend on doing the show again this year :)

And yes Ben will be on the MB Tour but I am sure you will be in good hands with me :sqwink:

Make sure to wash your hands afterwards... :sqwink::sqerr:

Most folks here know that I much prefer the Vegas show, but one reason is that it is now just 2 months before the AC show, and there is STILL no posted info on what will be presented? People should pay the cash and HOPE that they can find seminars they want? I don't get it. At least give the public what you have set.

They usually post it somewhat last minute (by last minute, I mean 6-8 weeks before). They probably think most people are going to go no matter what, which is true for the most part. For most mobile DJ conventions, I rarely hear anyone say they've decided to go strictly based on which seminars there will be/who is presenting.

That's because for AC and Vegas, people go for more than the show.... so much you can do away from the show, if you choose.

I would tend to disagree. I've been to over 25 DJ conventions over the last 10 years and I've never been to one where I looked a the list of seminars and couldn't find at least a few that interested me. I would bet most DJs are the same. Most know that at every convention there will be seminars that interest them, and others that don't. Even if at a given convention, only 2 seminars interest them, they can attend those 2 seminars, soak up as much as they can, and spend a lot of other time networking. I read so many posts after conventions where DJs talk about how much they enjoyed networking and how much they learned...it's a key component to conventions. In addition, they'll also have time to check out the show floor as well as attend the parties....it's a whole experience.

Yes, there is always something... but frequently not when I am available, or there is another seminar I want as well. That's why I want a schedule. Me, I personally hate the floor... especially at AC. Mostly club music blaring at way too many decibels, and every company trying to win the loudness war.

So long as you enjoy it, that's cool.

You don't have to tell me about how loud the exhibit hall is...I have to deal with it for hours at every convention. I do think last year was the best year in a while at DJ Times as they cracked down on the blasting. We complain but as vendors I'm not sure they listen. I'd recommend saying something to the convention hosts anytime you think it's too loud.

Do I agree that they should have a schedule out by now? Yes. But I also don't think putting it out even a month in advance is too late. Either you're going or you aren't so you still have a month to figure out what seminars you'll be attending.

For those looking to book a decent room at the DJ Expo, the Showboat next door to the Taj has a great deal right now through Expedia:

Sunday night: $101.15
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights: $92.65/night
Total with taxes and fees: $468.93

Use the code 10spring10 at checkout and you'll save an additional $10 per night. That makes the price of a four-night stay just $427.93. Here's the link.

The Trump Taj's Expo rate is very good at $125/night... but when you factor in the taxes and fees, your Sunday to Thursday stay jumps to $590.00. Personally, I'd rather pocket the savings and spend it on new gear and fine dining... but that's just me. The Showboat is a fine hotel, rooms are clean and the walkover to the convention is quick, air-conditioned (the hotels are connected) and easy.

We just booked for the Showboat also.

I have to thank Heather's player's card - $89 for Sunday & then $59/night for Mon & Tues nights. (Have to leave on Wed for a gig)...

Without the comp, it was 99, then 89 for the next 2 nights.

I thought the same thing with the $125/night - the taxes, surcharges add another 60-75 onto the bill...

Arriving Sunday @ 4p....

I'm staying at Harrahs. They comped me for a Suite for 4 days along with 2 free meals for the both of us and I get $40 in free slot play each day. That was pretty sweet. The room is like $299 to $350 a night. I gamble quite a bit.

I just got my passes in the mail the other day.
