I won the bid.

Didn't answer the question. What price did you give them to want he bid?
let me say it again. We both gave the same bid and they picked me. I don't know why. All I is my job is to do a great job so that in the future I will be on their list of DJs to contact when they need one, if not on top of the list.

C'mon man... you know you're not being slick playing word games like this. Everyone wants to know what you're charging to lug those 157 pound speakers in.

On a more serious note... sometimes it helps to ask. It's not a rude question to say. "I'm curious what pushed you over the edge on choosing to work with me for your event?" I bet you'd learn something valuable, and I guarantee they won't say anything about your equipment.

I like the fact that those subs have a knob on the back to adjust the sound, he has no clue what it does air what it's actually called

Also it's obvious to all of us mix you are embarrassed by what you bid on the job that's why your are reluctant to tell us the price

I never mentione the price because then I would have to go in detail about the situation of who this is for and most won't understand it anyway. Some would easily say if was me I would charge this much without knowing the deal. You would have to be a part of it to understand.

Mix none of us CARE what you told them for a price, its not us who are lugging all that equipment around (set up take down) . If you told them $10.00 or a 1000.00 WHY cant you say here how much. Ill bet its not even your gig

some here would think better of you if you just say what you are doing and charging than beating around the bush. If you chose to charge 50.00 OK if you say Free its ok its your equipment its your time.

I don't know it has been ignored, I think he chose not to answer and even stated that people here would question him because they don't understand who he is working for or his reasoning behind the rate. Honestly, if he is getting paid, it is better then the places he has been to with a Bluetooth speaker and Pandora playing in the background. If he feels it is a justified price that coincides with his beliefs for the group he is working for, good on him. If he wishes to share the price he is charging, he will. If he does, don't come down on him for working for an organization he believes in.

We DJ'd an candlelight walk for suicide prevention and awareness weekend before last. Had a paying gig in the morning and did the candlelight walk for free. 3 hours of our time, had music during registration then opening ceremonies then music during and after the walk and closed with an open mic. Several kids I have been around for many years spoke about either their desires or attempts at suicide or their loss of friends. There were counselors on site that were available to anyone that needed them. Not sure the number of people, different news organizations reported from 150 -320 people, but a pretty good showing for the first annual walk.

I agree that sometimes we lower our prices or do things for free because of a personal connection to the event. Hey, I do 4 events a year for a youth group at a rate thats a fraction of what I normally charge (literally it just covers payroll). It was a big part of my teenage years and I know by making the dances great, the kids will keep wanting to be a part of it... and it exposes me to 400 teens each dance (I get almost 1/3 of my Sweet 16's each year from it). Mix however, ALWAYS gives super low prices, and there is always a reason bc of who its for, who he knows, or because of something his partner did, etc. It unfortunately reinstates the belief that he either doesn't know how to run a business or is doing this as a hobby despite what he says about taking better paying gigs from now on, getting what he's worth... even if it means losing a gig for $50, or something along those lines.

We know the price is somewhere between $150 and $300. No need to press it. Mix just likes showing off his big subs. Making a profit isn't what's important. I'm guessing his partner and him are getting $250.

What you said here is Very true but all you got to do is say I'm doing this for free or what ever don't say I'm doing this and then get asked for how much and don't answer back.

Wrong again target breath. LOL. It's not that I want to show off those subs. It's using what is needed to get the job done right regardless of what the pay is.

You'll have to ask his partner!

One corporate gig we got, which was pretty big for us. The guy said they got 10 bids, and cut it down to 3 and we got the job. I asked him what was the main reason they chose us.
Price?
Presentation?
Confidence?
Reputation?

He said it was because we took American express lol
