I just received my Garmin nuvi 660 Friday afternoon, and although I didn't work any events this weekend, I did take it out for a joyride yesterday.

This little thing is absolutely incredible! Turn-by-turn instructions, spoken street names (with incorrect pronunciation sometimes, but who cares about that...it's a chip), and quick automatic recalculation of the route if you veer off somewhere. The MP3 player and junk I don't care about, but real-time traffic reports are a must in Atlanta!

So far I am VERY impressed!

That is a great unit you have their Bryan. I have the C340 Garmin. I will be giving that unit to the little lady and I will grab the Nuvi. I like it for the blue tooth capability and the larger screen.

Be careful, my friend. GPS has a habit of telling the driver to turn the wrong way down a one-way street. :D

I've been praisng GPS for about the past month or two when I got mine. Can't say enough about it.

We are currently looking for houses and get the for sale addresses online. I simply input them into the GPS and away we go!

i've had a few gps's now for the last 2 years....they are invaluable. Of course, if you NEVER go anywhere where you don't know every road, you won't need one, but the other 99.9% of the driving population will.

in 2 years, i've never been sent down the wrong way of a one way street. However, the mapping software most of these places use are from the same people that do mapquest and yahoo maps(navquest). There are times(although very few) that the map was not updated, a new street was added, a street was removed, and yes, streets can be turned into a one way street....or maybe they were already and the map drawers missed it. The point is....Gps's are extremely helpful and a lot safer than trying to read a map while driving, but you still need to keep your eyes on the road and use common sense. Heck, it's possible that the road you are told to turn onto was washed out by a flood....so don't go barreling into a "road closed" sign just because the GPS said to. Keep your eyes on the road(something that's hard to do while reading a map). But my experience has not been that these things have a habit of making suggested turns the wrong way on a one way street.

Chris,
that's exactly what we did. My realtor sent me a list of houses we could get into to see...i put them all in the gps. When he picked us up, i brought the gps with us. He was amazed at the time it saved us because we were instantly able to see which house was closest to our current location. Also he loved how we could spend more time talking rather than looking at maps....he bought one the next week.

I have one too...

Mine is an air GPS. It lists an incredible amount of information and shows me every airport near my location in case of an emergency. No turns, but it lists waypoints and holding locations for IFR charts.

Invaluable tool..

Love my Garmin, I move it from my truck to my vette to my wife's jeep. She also has a handheld for hiking. I haven't flown using GPS, but I'm sure I would love it, as opposed to following VOR radials, etc.
