I find that when I hit a pinch of any sort - whether I'm running out of songs for a set, want to start a new set, or am fishing for the crowd - browsing the CDs I brought to the event really helps.

so...i downloaded the sample database that this hack posted online. (yes, i said it.) again, i ask: Is this a joke?
* Duplicate entries - Yep. I'm working on cleaning that up.
* Tripled entries - Those too
* Misspelled artist names - Mark Twain once said I can never respect a man who can only find 1 way to spell something
* Incorrect song titles - Uh oh
* Miscategorizations of songs and artists - Does he know there's no such word as "miscategorization"?
* Empty fields - Intentional. Not every section will be filled out or needs to be filled out.
This was my personal list. I'd be somewhat surprised if anyone has a perfect list of songs with no dups, or typos, but it worked for me. It was never meant to be sold. Since I gave this away freely to some friends, and they thought it was worth money, I decided to sell it.
I'm also in the process of updating it, and I'll continue to refine it. If anyone wants to offer suggestions I'm all ears. I'd appreciate some input from "the experts".
This list is meant to help spur thought and not to be the only songs one should ever use for a wedding. Far from it. Every DJ should maximize their own style. There may just be a nugget or 3 in this list that's helpful. And if not, then all anyone needs to do is ask for a refund.
There are absolutely 1000's of lists online for free as one poster mentioned. So this list isn't going to further the "anybody can be a DJ" problem. Those who never pay for anything and think they can be a DJ won't buy this. They'll just get it for free from Google.
I agree. The only reason I wasn't posting here is just because there are so many DJ forums. It can quickly eat up your time. There is one thing that was said about him in this thread that I didn't like but outside of that I don't see any reason he shouldn't visit here. Because people don't like his playlist is not a good reason.
Neal is not a member here and based on the reception his list got, I doubt he will be.
Thanks Steve. Me too sometimes, which is why I try to limit my posting. I'm not here to offend or fight.Neal - Welcome......You'll find some here a bit extreme (in a bad way) when it comes to certain topics.....
Thanks! I understood what you meant, it's cool. I was just letting anyone who "may" have thought I was hiding, that I'm not.I never got the impression you were the hiding type from any of your posts. If you don't visit here I knows it has nothing to do with the reception of your playlist. You're too good of a businessman for that.
That is perfectly ok with me. I expect many will have the same opinion. I don't own every helpful piece of information either. Some work for us, some don't.I'm just not crazy about the playlist, thats all.
If you don't have a good product, don't try to sell it. Just because someone suggests that you charge for something doesn't mean that you have to charge. If you have a good product that you want to sell, at least provide a decent sample.
And Tom, I don't care if you email this post to Neal, too. While you're at it, you can PM me with anything that other folks write about me on other forums.
1. The next version will be MUCH better and cleaner. I agree the first round of sales were a bit pre-mature. However the information is still very usable.
2. What would a "decent sample" be in your opinion?
3. Earlier you referred to me as a "hack". What is your definition of that word and why do you think I am one?
