Interesting.....30+ replies, not one mean spirited, condescending remark in any. Pretty rare for any type of forums. Thanx guys!!

Side note: Never dealt with Itunes, other than buying an occasional tune that Amazon didn't have. Ricky's Rockit didn't like the mp4 format, and at the time it was a pain converting in Itunes for each purchase (as they had real convoluted software out of the gate). I am always wary putting extra dll's from other audio software on a laptop and the possibility of them conflicting. One software left traces after removal yesterday , but as I said the drive is getting wiped and a new OS installed.

I use iTunes as I have iPads (and an iPhone) that are used for hot backup .. and I like the way iTunes works in creating playlists .. which I read into Traktor and VDJ (also supported by PCDJ and Serato) .. but NOT unfortunately into Rockit! as Ricky hated everything Apple.
If you read the ULA closely with iTunes (at least here in Canada), you are technically only allowed to use it for personal use and not for business purposes - just sayin'

That's also on the TOS for all their music, and Amazon music and Google Play music .. just sayin' :)

Doesn' t make it right eh? None of which I use of course - Xtendamix and legally purchased music only. Admittedly I have been known to dip into my Content Unlimited prescription.....
Or more.......:embarrassed:
Nobody out here checks so you could (d0) get away with anything really....
Connect Music (arguably our DJ Music Police within the very narrow area of their control which governs digital music on a storage medium, as an organization resides in Toronto and have never been seen west of Manitoba - Doh!
Can you say wild wild west? Thank goodness for a big Country with few people....

I also use pool music where I can, but no pool provides much "classic" music, so it's either buying a used CD and ripping or buying a track from Apple/Google/Amazon .. not much in the way of alternatives. We don't have DJ music licensing, so while using iTunes or iTunes music might be against Apple's TOS (not the same as illegal by the way) .. it's not like they give you an alternative.

Not sure I understand??? Can you provide an example of "classic" music the pool would not provide?

Most don't provide anything other than what is current (or recently released). The whole idea of a pool is to showcase new music to DJs/Radio stations, etc. idjpool has some older material that was re-released recently. If you want 50s-2000s music today, need to buy CDs or songs from iTunes/Amazon/Google.

OH!!! OK... I get it.[emoji1] Needless to say, I have not joined a pool. I buy all my tracks from whatever site I can find that carries what I'm looking for.[emoji4]

Came up almost immediately on my Virtual DJ "Content Unlimited" music subscription - several different flavours of the song in fact from live to studio versions. Not sure I would ever play that song at a gig but hey different strokes as they say (you also never know what folks will ask for). Incidentally "Content Unlimited" doesn't have to be streaming so you do not have to be connected to the internet to play the file you cache from them (*.vdjcache extension) and they have some very good high bitrate content as well. As long as your subscription is valid (like $10 a month) you can download to cache for offline playing to your heart's content....
Another great reason to sink your teeth into VDJ instead of any Apple bloatware
I have a very substantial collection of cached "Content Unlimited" songs (1,308 to be exact as of this moment) on my drive that work extremely well all the time. After your monthly subcription is paid the file is good for 30 days - a few days before my gigs I will refresh the files whichs makes them good for 30 days. During the quiet months I just let the subscription lapse until I need them again and put it back onto auto subscribe....
You can do that with Xtendamix as well although the files are permannently unlocked - honour system. If you cancel your subscription you are "supposed" to delete your files but many don't (I keep mine active all year for that one but don't really have to)....

When I started in earnest, I just bought what I needed .. lots of compilation CDS, Best ofs .. Lots of those "NOW .. this is music" CDs. Then I found a pool that had just Top 40 stuff and joined for a little until they changed direction .. then found idjpool, which had a Top 40/Hot 100 subscription for about $12/month (I think others have similar). They dropped that a few years back, but grandfathered me in.

Looks like it's about $500 per year now. Sounds like you have a VERY good deal![emoji4]
