I know the feeling I'm stuck on Mixmeister. I do keep VDJ as a backup and for video though

That skin does make VDJ look just like Traktor though. The thing I wonder about though, is would it work just like Traktor with my controllers? Also, Traktor Pro 2 is just $99. VDJ is not worth 3 times the price IMHO. I have the light version of VDJ.

I'm pretty stuck on it (Traktor).[emoji4] I tried some others, including VDJ, before settling on Traktor.
If you are only doing Audio gigs (no video) the free version of VDJ should be all you need. For a free app, what do you have to lose other than $10 for a month to evaluate the Content Unlimited? If it was VDJ7 u evaluated before you will find VDJ 8 is light years ahead of VDJ7...
Because you use a controller you might have to get the full version of VDJ to get it talking to the controller sound card. If you used a standard mixer you probably wouldn't need to...

I can't remember which version of VDJ I tried, but I think it was 8. You see this discussion pretty often, though... VDJ, Serato, Traktor, other??? Everyone will swear by the one THEY use.[emoji4] For me, Traktor seemed the most intuitive, but others would disagree. If everyone was of the same opinion, then there would probably only be one option, so I guess it's a good thing we all don't see things the same way.[emoji4]

Totally getting what you are laying down. Was just trying to suggest a cheaper option for accessing almost every song out there as a possible alternative choice. This is where I thought the thread had drifted. Unfortunately Content Unlimited is completely tied to VDJ so likely a non-starter for many that do not like it or have not fully explored its capabilities. I really only like VDJ for the video jockey capability truth be told - I can't really comment as to what application is better for audio only purposes as I am sure all the top contenders do an excellent job so regrets...

Well... you know how it is with me. I can make a thread drift all over the place! I DO appreciate your suggestion. Still, even if I LOVED VDJ, I'm still not sure I'd want my music to be so closely tied to any product. If VDJ went under, what happens to your music? Having been in the commercial software business myself, I know how precarious it can be to keep a niche software company going for the long term. Native Instruments (Traktor) could fold as well, but my music is not dependent upon it. Content Unlimited is probably a good idea if you're starting with next to nothing. I started with a 100K track library collected over 35+ years.

+1 - well said.

Yeah, but the venues never give the DJ the wifi password. ;)
Strange as I have not been turned down for a wifi password yet. Regardless, that is why I bring a WiFi hub to each gig as sometimes the shared bandwidth of a venue is absolute garbage. The hub works slick as snot except for the extremely rare occasion where there is no cell service. Only ever had that happen once at a farm wedding I did in the hills. Turned out I didn't need it there anyway as I had everything they requested (See below):humble:

I've been thinking about investing in my own personal hotspot. This is making me want to more and more.
I have two rack mounted computers in my rack, and I plug them both into my router so they can communicate and share a keyboard and mouse. Having the router that accepts a USB cellular device allows both computers access to the Internet, and if I need to use my backup laptop for some reason, I can connect it via WiFi as well. It also provides "guest" access, so I can allow others to use my wifi if I want to do that too.[emoji4]

Yeah, I never give out my wifi password to customers. One thing I am not is an internet service provider. You do that and next thing everyone you give access to will be killing your bandwidth and using all your data for the month watching YouTube or using other high data rate services. It doesn't take long for your monthly allocation to get gunched up and then get into additional expensive extra service charges - it is bad enough I have two young adults still at home who are on a cellular family plan....

I have an unlimited data plan, but there really hasn't been a reason to give out the guest password to anyone. It's there if I ever want to. The other thing is my SSID is only available when I DJ. I have a completely different setup at home.

IMO, if my dj machines are on a closed network, I would not ever let a guest have access to that network. As for 'unlimited' - is it truly unlimited or is it throttled?

Problem solved!!!!! (Audio drops). It was not the software (as I tried numerous) nor the operating systems (I tried win7 32&64 and Win 10 32 &64). It was not from the 100+ tweaks for laptops (including registry tweaks) that I really could write a book on.
One month (after giving up three times) I am happy to announce that the issue is exclusively related to WD Blue hard drives They have a power saving option embedded into them that can not be altered in Windows power options (which all assume would). The head parking system is set way to sensitive on these drives that can cause subtle interruptions within some mainboards.
By accident I found a third party software that can shut this "save the planet" embedded software down. One would assume the power options in windows would do this after setting the hard drive to run all the time,, but it does not!!!
Now my next step is to start fresh, probably go back to Win 7 64 bit and put in a none green hard drive. I am looking at a 7200 rpm WD Black performance drive as the replacement (hoping it will not run too hot). Solid state drives are not an option as my research gives conflicting commentary for streaming music, and overall reliability.
Once again it is exclusively the WD Blue Scorpio models that are the issue.

Joncor
