Hey. Imagine that AGAIN! and AGAIN, and AGAIN.... You drop by to sell something. Nice to see ya.... :sqerr:

Maybe you should be a sponsor.... oh wait, that costs money. :sqlaugh:

1.Like in the past announcements of this nature fit nicely into the DJ Industry News and Events forum section.

2. It seems a bit narrow to join up with only one of many software sources unless the only customers are those A. who dont own software already or B. New DJs.I love Denon but choose to use Rockit whom happens to be a paying sponsor here.

I expect for folks to complain about this move as they did when I moved threads in the past. TOS is the bible and we do respect our sponsors who keep the doors open so I move this with a clean conscience after all it is DJ Industry News and Events.

Creating a controller just for Itch doesn't do much for me. As video is gaining more and more prominence in the mobile industry, and Itch does not do video...this player is pretty limited. And you seem to have left out the club market with it as well.

I do like that it's smaller than the Numark 57 however, but you still need a mixer as well, so it's a give and take.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

Although I'm not a Club DJ/VJ I to echo that tieing this thing to one piece of software is very limiting. It's a very nice piece but, you have limited the marketability to either those that already use Itch or to new DJ's looking for an all-in-one solution.

I do see the advantage to a system like this being tied to one program in that as stated in the OP it provides for a completely stable system that works flawlessly with Itch. That makes total sense because the two are married and you don't have multiple designers and compatibilities to contend with when working directly with one software maker vs making it universally compatable with every midi capable DJ/VJ software.

But, alas that advantage is also a disadvantage in that you limit your customer base to just those interested in using Itch as their DJ software.

I do think that we are seeing a greater move to the midi controller side of things. While this piece is "programmed" to be a companion piece (via midi and HID) for itch, I would imagine that this piece and many others (think Abelton APC 40) will start to be able to work with many programs.

As video is gaining more and more prominence in the mobile industry, and Itch does not do video....

Thanks, Video is expected shortly.

The HC5000 allows you to switch off to our CD drive units in real time, independent per deck. If your computer crashed, you can have music going in seconds.
During the wedding ceremony you can have 4 tracks cued up and ready to go (2-Itch, 2-CD) As a mobile myself, I’d say that’s very flexible, unique, space saving, time saving and cost effective.

That's very interesting to hear DENON. If what you say is true then you have just "leaked" a major announcement.

That being said, let me ask you a few questions.

1) Doesn't video for itch then degrade scratchlive? If you can get more integerated controllers with itch, why buy scratchlive

2) Is itch just a way for Serato to "step sideways" from their agreement with Rane?

Exactly, and that’s the piece of mind we would all pay for.
Reliability and a flawless performance are owed to the clients on their special day.

But, alas that advantage is also a disadvantage in that you limit your customer base to just those interested in using Itch as their DJ software.

If Itch/HC5000 offers all that you need, then its not so limiting.
They will continue to expand its functionality for free based on your input.

At $899, I dont understand the justification of the price other than Serato is charging an arm and a leg for Licensing the ITCH.
In comparison, HC4500 + the now included Traktor software = $499
Plus , you can use the HC4500 feely with any other software of choice

It all boils down to choice of software. All these controller made exclusively for ITCH are severely limited IMO.

Thats just my educated guess. (1+1)
ITCH & SSL use the same audio engine and library, which means SLV....

I doubt it, but just my opinion.

2) Is itch just a way for Serato to "step sideways" from their agreement with Rane?

Step away from Rane? no way...
Just like any other biz, the goal is to find new opportunities to grow.

HC4500 goes for $549 map and comes with 'LE' Traktor
The full version of Traktor costs $299
$549 + $299 = $849 vs $899

SL1 = $539 + HC4500 $549 = $1,088 vs $899
SL3 = $699 + HC4500 $549 = $1,248 vs $899

*Not at all a far stretch from other viable options.

You can use all ITCH controllers with any other choice application, they all do general MIDI.

I should have clarified. On many Denon players and controllers the platter do not track with Serato. Despite many requests for that to happen Serato has chosen not to integrate that feature like they have with Pioneer products.

I assume that is a feature of the business deals that Serato has with Pioneer vs the deals they have with Denon as they both use HID and Midi.

Allowing a fully integrated feature set with itch bypasses the contracts they have with other companies.

Folks,

Silvio (Denon) is a company rep. He doesn't actually sell anything. If memory serves, the staff held a discussion on this very topic sometime back, hence the TOS permitting announcements such as this one. :)

You can use all ITCH controllers with any other choice application, they all do general MIDI.

Which makes the 5000 redundant compared to the 4500.

Why didnt you just make ITCH native to the 4500 then and sell different versions with different software?

4500+ Traktor
4500+ Itch
etc....

Because the $$$ markup from $549 to $899 is riduculous, but marketing it as an "exclusive" ITCH controller justifies that, when you in fact are saying its nothing more than a MIDI controller.

I think you are speaking about our spinning platter support, it’s a much different approach than static platters that Pioneer offers. It does take a bit of time and work to gets things just right on the app side for spinning platter support.

I'm confused about the different platters between Pioneer and Denon. I use the DVJ's in Vinyl mode and of course they use timecode for their control. But the CDJ-400's do not use timecode, they use HID support.

Does Denon use something different? Thanks!

(and when does the "code" you need to enter before posting go away?)
