Which makes the 5000 redundant compared to the 4500.

Why didnt you just make ITCH native to the 4500 then and sell different versions with different software?

4500+ Traktor
4500+ Itch
etc.....

Because the HC4500 hardware design is a non fit for the ITCH GUI.
The HC5000 hardware was designed in conjunction with the Serato team so that things are 1 to 1, plug&play and intuitive. Just take a look at the top panels and compare the differences.

The HC4500 on the other hand was designed to be an open based controller with a generic key layout that any app could adopt to, just like SSL, VDJ, OTS, DEX, and Rockit.

I'm confused about the different platters between Pioneer and Denon. I use the DVJ's in Vinyl mode and of course they use timecode for their control. But the CDJ-400's do not use timecode, they use HID support.

Does Denon use something different? Thanks!

There are two ways to communicate with controllers, HID or MIDI.
One is not better than the other.

(and when does the "code" you need to enter before posting go away?)

On this site? I dont know...

Well I can't speak for the hardware but I have used ITCH for quite awhile and it's fantastic...even for a mainly wedding dj. I use the VCI 300 controller and things couldn't be easier. I think it's a nice size between the humongous NS7 behemoth and the Denon rack mounted controller.

I was torn between the VCI 300 and the 100 but when I realized that I needed a soundcard/hub system if I went the route of the 100, I went with the 300 instead...sound card in the hardware.
