Let me start this off by saying as I stated in another thread I was not the DJ for this one and my best friends daughter got the right DJ for the job. I can't post all the pictures me and his wife took but I will post some. I promised that DJ I was going to make a thread on a couple of the DJ forums for him. This DJ did a great job! It's hard to impress me since I've been doing this so long. He really impressed me! He gets an A-. Only reason why he doesn't get an A+ is because one of the songs he played kept skipping. Nobody paid that any attention. That's how great a job he did!

When you see the picture of his setup with one EV top and one EV sub don't go off. That was fine for that small room. The event was at the Galloping Hill Inn in Union, NJ. Nice place. I've DJed there before a few times. The event was for my best friends oldest daughter who turned 30. Before I go on let me say I'm glad I wasn't the DJ doing this event. A lot of the stuff he played I either didn't know or would have been completely lost trying to play such stuff. He played the right music for that crowd. It was a bunch of younger people there and he nailed it with the music.

When I first came in I spoke to him for a few minutes while he was playing in the beginning. I asked how long has he been a DJ? He told me 3 years. I would have guessed easily 10 years. At the end I had to give him a hug telling him about the great job he did. I got his business card and I gave him mine. I definitely want to communicate with him in the near future.

I didn't know this until I looked closely. He was using a pair of Pioneer turntables. I had never seen them before or heard of them. He was using a Pioneer mixer with a Macbook and Serato. I just hate my leg was hurting me and I really couldn't dance hardly. If I could I would have. That's when a DJ is really good to me when they can get me to dance.

The first picture I'm going to post obviously will be the birthday girl/lady. Some of the pictures weren't that great. I didn't notice it till after the fact that his wife messed with the lens because she didn't know where to use the view finder. The first picture is actually her with he brothers son.

I will post more pictures later. That's how many pictures got taken. The last 2 pictures are my ex or whatever you want to call her. It's crazy because she keeps telling me she loves me. Last night when she was leaving because she drove herself she told me I love you. I kept messing with her telling her whatever. LOL. Just being silly with her.

Mix .. Do you actually look through the photos before you post them? There are only 5 that are in focus. Gotta work on that .. a lot.

I get that. Like I said my best friends wife used the camera to take pictures and I believe she messed with the lens. I didn't think of it till later on. I was just caught up in the moment of taking pictures. It's my fault for not paying attention. Great time with that DJ for sure! Rarely do I get excited about another DJ doing a private event. He certainly got my attention big time.!

Looks like they had a really good time. But you really need to delete out of focus pictures right at the camera. I thought the pictures weren't fully downloadin on my iPad. The great thing about digital photography is you can delete crappy pictures and edit ones you keep. That way everybody thinks you take perfect pictures.

Well he setup is clean compared to what we have seen with some of your setups. He has a gig and not a guest. He can play and knows current music and doesn't complain about it. He isn't trying to be a photographer or anything else during a job he is just playing music. Oh yes and he got paid.

First of all who said I was trying to be a photographer? I'm not. As for the setup thing I didn't see the importance of a good clean setup till I took enough of a beating about it.

As far as me being a guest and him working I couldn't miss this event. As it turns out I didn't have an event to do that night and I was OK with that. Some days with my health difficulties I'm good with making it from the bedroom to the bathroom.

I got arthritis in my knees, bulging disc in my back and arthritis there as well. Not to mention I had to just find out I got arthritis in my left hip as well. Don't worry I got work coming up in the near future. I'll be pretty busy.

As far as me not knowing much about today's music, I somethings. I'm just not an expert and don't care to be either. I can get by with some things.

The other thing about me complaining about today's music, just because I don't like a song doesn't mean I won't play it if I have it. My opinion will not change. A lot of the so called artist today either have no talent or very little. That has nothing to with me pleasing the crowd. There are plenty of songs from back in the day that I never liked when it first came out and still don't. One song for sure is Freddie Jackson's Jam Tonight. I want to throw up when either I hear that song or have to play it. If it's the right song for the crowd I'm playing for it will get played. Just that simple.

One thing I learned in a life lesson is I don't have to pretend to be somebody I'm not. I'm not the DJ for a crowd like that and I'm OK with that. Hell the way I saw he was moving from file to file to find the next song to quickly play, I couldn't even think that fast. Let alone move that fast.

In other words I'm not looking to be the DJ that can do just any old thing these days. I'm 58 years old and have problem with calling myself old. Some of my friends say I'm not old but tell my body that. Some days in my condition are better than others. I thank God when I get 2 or 3 days that I'm not in pain.

As soon as I observed the blurry pictures of this event, I realized that you wouldn't have been the right dj for the crowd. Had you done the gig you would be here still bitching, and moaning how it was someone else's fault that the gig sucked, and they didn't give you a play list, etc, etc, etc. At least you realize that you wouldn't have been a good fit for the event.

Stay in your lane bro............

Oh yes I forgot the most important one. HE did the job by himself and didn't need 14 partners come with him.

No I wouldn't because personally I hate play list!!!!!!!!! I don't mind some suggestions but rarely do I run acro9ss an event to be done where they give me a long complete list of songs they want for their event. Maybe that happens to you a lot but not me. I've expressed my feelings on this many times and that is if you feel the need to give me a super long play list, then you don't think I'm the right DJ for the job. For me it's like taking a computer to a store to get repaired and you don't know what's wrong with it and how to fix it. Then trying to tell the person how to fix it. Why would you take it to someone if you don't trust that they know what they are doing? When I agree to do an event either you trust that I know what I'm doing or you don't. It's just that simple. I said nothing about a few song suggestions. That fine so I know which direction to go in. Clients that want to give me a big list of songs for me to play at their event and are stuck on what they want are normally clients I will pass on. I'm a DJ and not a jukebox.

Jimmy I'm comfortable with where I'm at. I guess I would have a big change of heart if DJing was my only source of income. I guess I would be the DJ that can claim to do any event for anybody. I'm not that guy that wants to be everything for everybody. I know some don't like that attitude. That's just where I'm at today. My attitude at my age is I get in where I fit in. I'm doing an event for a committee again that they will love what I do and already want to know when they have the next event to make sure it's on a day that I'm available. I do plan on surprising them and I plan on playing some hip-hop and R & B of today. Enough to wet their whistle. I'm also working on a setup with my Ipad so I can play music from Spotify when someone has a request and I don't have that song as well.

Cool , Are you paying for that music?

I figured I was probably the worst photographer there is. So I end up taking a ton of pictures when I do take pictures and end up deleting a bunch.
I'm not sure how you don't notice pictures are out of focus on the camera and then again as you are choosing pictures to upload.

You're right I should have noticed things were out of focus. I was just quickly trying to get pictures taken so I could sit back down.

WHY did she use your camera, everyone has one on there phone.

WHY did she use your camera, everyone has one on there phone.
Because she didn't bring her own camera and didn't think of using her phone. Not everyone has a camera on their phone. I know some that have an old flip phone that don't have a camera.
