My DDJ-T1 is scheduled for delivery today! I just checked the tracking and it's in town, so I'm hoping it will come today. I just finished building my new DJ computer, so it will be fun to get them setup and working together. I know this is crazy, but I just picked up my new Jeep Wrangler yesterday, but I'm more excited about the T1![emoji39]

OK... the DDJ-T1 did arrive today. It wasn't supposed to include the original box, but it didn't. First impressions: Though it was purported to be in "excellent" condition, I would rate the condition as "good". It was a little dirty and there were scratches on the face of the right jog wheel that were not visible in the pictures. Also there were a couple of small gouges on the base, but nothing too obvious. With a little cleaning, it looks almost new. If it works like it's supposed to, then I definitely got more than enough for my $147.50.

The first thing I noticed about this controller is it is VERY plastic. Unlike my American Audio VMS 4.1, which is made of metal and is built like... well, something very sturdy, The T1 feels fragile. Even the knobs and sliders feel flimsier than my VMS 4.1. I know it's not Pioneer's top of the line controller, but it sold for about double what my VMS 4.1 sold for new. I would think it should feel as solid. On the positive side, it's much lighter. Lugging around the VMS 4.1 is like lugging a case filled with gold bars. The lighter weight will certainly be appreciated considering the total weight of my setup. When I get the new EVOX 8's, I'll have cut the total weight by at least a third.

The Odyssey case that was included is in excellent condition; has two large pockets, a shoulder strap, and came with plenty of extra pads. The way everything was packed in the bag makes me think it has never been used. For a soft carry bag, this case is perfect.

I have family plans for the rest of the weekend, so It will be Monday before I can hook it up and try it out. I'll post an update after I try it out.

It's nice. I've thought about Jeep in the past .. if I got one, it would have to be the 4 door Wrangler.
The 4 doors are nice, and certainly more utilitarian, but they are more expensive. I already have a minivan for my DJ business and my wife drives a 4 door SUV, so I don't need four doors. It's more of a toy. It seems I only drive maybe 20 miles in any given week, so this Jeep is probably going to last a long, long, time.

amazing car, we never see these here in the uk
Thanks... Jeeps are pretty common here in Oklahoma. This one is pretty basic. It has a 5 speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD Radio and not much else. You can take off the top and the doors, and even fold the windshield down if you want that open feeling. It works good for me. I bought one back in 1998, but had to trade it after only a year because we needed a car my Mother could ride in after we moved her here from Florida. I always wanted to get another.

OK... So here's the ultimate question.... If I get a Denon controller, will I be a REAL DJ? In another forum, apparently I'm not a REAL DJ because I use an American Audio controller. That really concerns me (LOL).

I have a Denon 6000 controller that I use and it works great. I'm a real DJ! It's not what you use that makes you a real DJ. It's knowing how to use what you use. Personally I can't stand the Denon 4500. Others like it but for me it doesn't scratch. I need a controller that scratches or else it's very hard to hear my mixes. I've never owned one that didn't scratch but have used CD players and controllers that didn't scratch. I was able to get by because I knew what I was doing. I've had time when I was using a controller that my ex-partner had and kicked his butt on his own controller at times.

You say you want a controller with more features. What features are you looking for if nobody has already asked you?

Did I say I was looking for something with more features? If so, I must have been having a crazy moment (LOL). I can barely use all the features of my American Audio VMS 4.1. And you knew I was just joking about wanting a different controller because my VMS 4.1 was not for real DJ's, right? I have no qualms about using the VMS 4.1 for as long as I choose. I don't really care about the opinions of those who are hung up on brand names or those who think you have to pay big money for gear. Most of the time you get what you pay for, but you can still get very good products for reasonable prices if you do your research. My VMS 4.1 is built better and has comparable features to the Pioneer DDJ-T1 I purchased, and I can hear no difference in the sound quality. The only thing I can say about the Pioneer DDJ-T1 is it's big (LOL).. oh, and you can scratch with it (not that I ever do that). I like the size of the jog wheels and the spacing of the controls. Other than that, I prefer the American Audio.

Huh? What does the ability to scratch have to do with hearing a mix?

You were able to get by playing on players / controllers because you knew what you were doing versus using a scratch player? Wtf????

I just received my new case for my Pioneer DDJ-T1. It looks like this...

It's just like the one I use for my American Audio VMS 4.1 only much bigger (and heavier). It's so heavy they put wheels on it... thank goodness (LOL). It's a good thing the controller is so light weight. Funny thing (or maybe not so funny), is the case cost me more than the controller. I didn't even look for a used case. Even if I found one with the movable arm, it's unlikely it would be in very good shape. I'm a little OCD about the look of my cases. I like everything to look clean and new. Now that I have the case for it, I plan to use the DDJ-T1 as my backup controller for now. I'm still more comfortable with my American Audio VMS 4.1.

The thing is if it doesn't scratch when you have a song cued up ready to be mixed all you get to hear is a studdering sound through the headphones. Like when a record would get stuck at a certain point and you keep hearing the same thing over and over again. Just think of it as a person trying to talk and they studder.

Try the Numark 7 controller that they first made before the 6. That thing weighed a ton and not to mention the case to go with it. It took 2 people to get that thing moved even though the case was on wheels. That's why I never brought one. I can carry both my controllers with ease.

You can't turn your headphones off? I don't know about the denon .. but most modern stuff that plays mp3's or the like, do not have any sound coming through when its on pause.
