Used Pioneer DJ Controller?

Try the Numark 7 controller that they first made before the 6. That thing weighed a ton and not to mention the case to go with it. It took 2 people to get that thing moved even though the case was on wheels. That's why I never brought one. I can carry both my controllers with ease.

The NS7 was big .. but never required 2 people.

NS7 is probably lighter than my SKB's.

You can't turn your headphones off? I don't know about the denon .. but most modern stuff that plays mp3's or the like, do not have any sound coming through when its on pause.
You miss the point. When you have a song and it hits the cue point and the device doesn't have a scratch feature, all you get to hear is stutering. Why would you want to turn your headphones off? Don't you want to hear what you're mixing? At least that's how I do it.

I think it is you that missed the point .. if you are using an mp3 player and it's at a cue point and paused, there is no sound. Older CD players kept the track spinning (Gemini CDX 602) and you did continually get sound. That said, if you're at the cue point, why do you need to continue listening?

You have to have played on such a CD player or controller to understand what I'm talking about.

Mix, I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. I have played on many devices to include CD players and controllers. I've been at this for 28 years this August. If you read my previous posts, I even gave an example of a CD player that does do this when it's on pause. Media controllers do not typically do this.

XLR patch cables to hook up my DriveRack were supposed to be here today. Shipped by USPS, it says they are out for delivery in Choctaw. Problem is... I don't live anywhere near Choctaw. The postman's already been here today and did not deliver my cables (argh!). I did get a power supply for one of my PC's. The power supply went out a few weeks ago, so I ordered one(used). It was DOA, so they sent me another one. I got the computer running by taking one from another similar computer. The one I received today worked fine, thankfully. One of the downsides of having OCD is I can't stand it when something I own doesn't work. I bought several computers similar to the one with the bad power supply so I would have spare parts, but then I keep them all running (CRAZINESS). They're all in tip-top shape now:djsmug:.

The up side to having OCD is that everything I own works. If something breaks, I fix it or replace it swiftly (but I really hate replacing stuff)[emoji3].

Got my cables today (they apparently survived their tour of Choctaw), but too late to install the DriveRack this week. I'm getting ready for our annual Mothers Day bar-b-q we do at our house every year. I spent most of the day getting the pool ready, but still have a few outside tasks before Sunday. The weather forecast calls for rain starting tomorrow, all the way through Mothers Day[emoji16]. Since retiring, I'm also the housekeeper (LOL), so the rest of the week I'll be cleaning the house. No fun! Will get back to the DriveRack next Monday.

Let me suggest you get a Pioneer DDJ SB new cost $250.00. I bought one for backup and it works fine with my laptop. I even have it mapped to use with VDJ. That way you don't have to go with something used. I really don't like to buy used gear unless I personally know the seller. I would rather buy new. That way I have a warranty to cover me for a certain amout of time.

I prefer buying new as well, but as I stated previously, I already have an American Audio VMS 4.1 that I like very much. I just wanted to try a Pioneer controller and could not see paying the cost of a new one, only to use it as a backup.
I have purchased a few used items on eBay and have had pretty good luck, however, none of the used items are currently in my primary setup. I agree with you on the warranty.
That being said, I got a great deal on the DDJ-T1. It works great and I find I rather like the larger size. I've practiced on it several times, but I'm still far from comfortable enough to actually use it in front of an audience. Thanks for your advice[emoji4].

You can ship it to me and I can see how it works and then I can tell you how it works. LOL. For me that one would be a breeze to operate.

How much did you pay for that Pioneer controller? I bet it was more then the DDJ SB I recommended. I didn't want to spend much either for a backup controller and that's why I picked that one.

You'd lose that bet, my friend (LOL). I paid $147.50 and it even came with an Odyssey case. The DDJ-SB usually retails for around $250 new, and it's only a 2 channel controller. The T1 is a 4 channel controller and retails for much more than the SB ($700). I think I got a very good deal![emoji4]

It works well I hope. I got a great deal myself. I meesed up the 6000 I had and got another one from one of the NJDJN members for $50.00. The only issue besides some paint missing on one of the wheels is that you have to manually load a song on the right side. The load button doesn't work. I already had a case to put it in. I kept the old case I used for the other one.

Yep... Works great. I think it was barely used.

...Sounds like you got a good deal too[emoji4]. Congrats!

The whole thing was in a heavey case and not just by itself. That added to the weight and then you need to consider loading it into a van as well that didn't have a ramp. The case had wheels and that was nice to move it outside. I love my Denon 6000 in it's case. I can easily carry it in one hand.

OK... So here's the ultimate question.... If I get a Denon controller, will I be a REAL DJ? In another forum, apparently I'm not a REAL DJ because I use an American Audio controller. That really concerns me (LOL).

Yes you will! I have a Denon DN MC 6000 that I use for my main controller. I have a Pioneer controller for backup duty. It's not what you use but knowing what to do with what you use. If you don't know how to use any controller it won't matter what it is. Some don't think a DJ using anything other than a Mac Book computer is a real DJ. I use a Lenovo and for backup a HP. Both work fine even though I haven't used the HP in a good while. It's really about what you feel comfortable with. Steve mentioned the 4500 and he likes it. Me I wouldn't touch it as I don't like it. If you gave it to me I would sell it right away. Don't get me wrong it's a solidly made unit, just not my cup of tea.

Yes you will!...
Mix, you know the "real DJ" question was tongue-in-cheek, right? Anyone who thinks any piece of gear will make them a "real DJ" is delusional! I still use my American Audio VMS 4.1 controller and I still LOVE it. Brand names don't impress me much. I am impressed by great gear, regardless of the brand, and if it can be purchased at a reasonable price... even better![emoji4]
I did get my Pioneer controller. It's a decent controller and serves as my backup, but I hope I never have to use it!
