Another reason for a couple to not be so cheap.

I don't get a free pass -- Danno busts my chops on a regular basis. We just do it via PMs.

I'm happy that some of you think I'm special -- but I'm not really that special. I'm just a plain ass like most.

My opinion counts, just as much as yours. So, don't bust my chops, when I don't want to pay tax dollars for a fake. He talks about an enlarged disc, yet I have Parkinson's, skin cancer, rheumatoid arthritis. Do you want me to pay someones bills for an enlarged disc, that can't take a non blurry picture?

If you don't like me -- I don't give a hoot. Just watch one of my videos, and buy and some software :)

The silence is deafening! When one is a favorite they get a pass!.

FWIW, I'm just now reading these messages. If anyone reports a post it goes directly to my email. I don't check in every few hours like I used so I miss stuff.

Let he (or she) who is without sin (at least here) cast the first stone ...

Rick .. I agree with a lot of the sentiment .. you need to keep the bigotry, xenophobia and name calling to yourself .. it's not helpful to the forum .. and that shouldn't be lost on others as well. We've lost a folks lately (DJ Piddipat comes to mind) and a number have stopped visiting as often, and the non-friendly atmosphere is part of the reason (and I'll take my lumps as well).

Well said Steve. I couldn't agree more.

Two or more wrongs done by two different people is still wrong doing! No amount of wrongs can make a right nor is it ever justified. Bigotry is bigotry. It also goes hand and hand with ignorance. Don't make lame excuses for other's wrong doing. All that does is encourages more wrong doing.

Fair enough.

But understand I do have opinions, and that's what chat boards are for. I don't consider myself a bigot -- shoot, I'm darker than most on this board.

So, when I call someone out -- there is a reason. I will stand by my thoughts -- if not, see the Apology thread :)

What's xenophoia BTW?

I'm not making excuses for anyone, nor condoning this .. just pointing out that many here have their own faults that have been exposed .. including the two of us.

So, let me get this straight -- when the Haitian dude decided to break into my garage a couple weeks ago -- should I have invited him in for a cold brew?

It worked out in my favor.

No .. I have no issue protecting yourself, your property or your loved ones. Xenophobia would be doing that SIMPLY because he was Haitian.

Yer being so PC Steve.

You must live in Connecticut...

If you get a chance, come down to Newburgh, and I'll take you for a ride -- make sure you have extra ammo. And don't bring that .223 junk -- they laugh at that. If you have an RPG, that would help, since they have them.

It's a war zone here.

Let me say I was wrong for my outburst earlier. Yet I'm still human and I normally hold my piece when I get slaughtered here. Some have wondered how I do it considering the butt kicking I get on here sometimes. I try not to let too much bother me on here and when someone is right I can admit they are right and I'm wrong.

Now as for my medical condition I was told that what happens is the bone pinches my nerve causing me pain. Which is why some days I have a difficult time getting my left leg to move and at times I'm in a lot of pain. Now some days are much better then others. Sometimes I won't feel any pain and then I can go days where I have a lot of pain. I9 was told by a pain management doctor that 6 out of 10 people wind up getting this.

Now I have stated this before and admitted where I've made some mistakes. When I first got back into DJing I was just so excited to be back that I basically would almost take any gig paying just about anything. I had no plans at that time. Someone was looking for a DJ and they contacted me I was there. So I did a lot of gigs for $250.00 and under at that time. Some maybe just a little bit higher. So I would go do these gigs and get complimented all the time for a great job. That meant using top of the line equipment and giving a client and it's guest a great show. As time went on I kept up this practice and not looking at the things I needed to do to get paid more and get out of doing such low paying gigs.

Which in turn quite a few of those gigs weren't high end events in some fancy venue. So some of the events we did at that time were just to get exposure and some were a bit questionable. Now I find myself not so desperate today just to say we did another gig. Now while we're maybe not at the level of what some others on here are at in terms of the pay scale, we're at least improving a bit with the last 2 gigs we did. Bob Carpenter said it right many years ago to me. He said I should increase my rates slowly and not look to make a big jump all at once. He was right and that today is part of my business plan.

The other thing I saw I needed to do was to get more evidence of the different types of events we are doing which is why I bought the camera I did. I just finished buying a Google Nexus tablet to use for presentations to potential clients so they can see pictures and videos of our work. So once again please excuse me for my rant earlier. I just hate when I've been painted as the DJ who only does events for the ghetto fabulous people. That's not true. Since I'm usually a good judge of character I will check a thing out and regardless of what a person is willing to pay if I don't feel comfortable I'll pass that gig along to let them look for another DJ.

For me it's not always just about how much we get paid but feeling comfortable with the gig we're contracted to do. Just because someone is looking for a DJ to come do an event for them doesn't mean we are the right DJ's for them. Which is not limited to the music alone. We have a wide variety when it comes to music. Sometimes it can simply come down to where the event is to take place if we'll agree to do the event. Never mind how much the pay is.

please dont get me started!!!

Personally, I think you all ROCK .. but we really do need to treat each other better.

FWIW - the principle of the story applies here.

The next time you are tempted to say something hurtful to someone just because you’re angry, you might want to stop and remember this story: it’s a keeper.

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.”
