its pretty simple to install a wheel kit on any wooden subwoofer, I've done it many many timesI have to admit, I really like those perm-mounted casters on the EV.

Older cabs had plenty of "meat" .. the newer, small, powered ones have limited space .. plus with the tendency to use bracing for rigidity .. it's tough to install casters properly (with backing plates or inserts).its pretty simple to install a wheel kit on any wooden subwoofer, I've done it many many times
most quality cabinets are still 3/4 inch birch that still is enough for an insert heck even 1/2 inch would hold well enough, I did a friend 18 Behringer subs a couple years ago never had a wheel issue since installationOlder cabs had plenty of "meat" .. the newer, small, powered ones have limited space .. plus with the tendency to use bracing for rigidity .. it's tough to install casters properly (with backing plates or inserts).
Half the back panel is a heatsink .. my JBL PRX are the same and they don't run warm. The ETX15sp would not make my list as they weight 91 lbs.(thats a little heavy to lift by my self)
I wish the RCF had fan in them.
That is one reason why I went with the EKX 15's , was weight, and I didnt want to be moving around heavy subs, plus size was a bit of factor too.The ETX15sp would not make my list as they weight 91 lbs.(thats a little heavy to lift by my self)

Not sure if 15's are good compromise or not, haven't heard them..

Sold my EV speakers. Clipped WAY too easily for my liking.
Did you have a compressor between the mixer and speakers? I used to see the same thing out of all of my rigs. Now, I never see clip lights, at all.
I use Bose, so there is no compression or EQ. I am using a BBE 882 but have it set to the middle.
Got rid of that GoRack... it was junk, in my opinion.
Interesting..so you think if I used my gorack's compressor function that would work?
I've not been able to get my DXR12's to clip (light their led) but I can get the ETX's to do it more readily than i'd like.
Do you run the compressor on all outputs or just those to the subs?
I have a school dance that mirrors one I did last month in a few weeks..i could do a nice a/b test!
Yeah Rick, I still have the 15's , my thoughts is I still like them, they put out a good amount of bass, they hit pretty hard, but its not in your face chest hitting hard. I dont think they would work well for doing school dances, I am not doing any sort of school dances right now, so I am just guessing.az, are you still using the EV EKX 15sp? What are you thoughts on it? What kind of gigs are you using it for? I'm back having a hard-on for a new, smaller sub (than my yorkie ls801p) and I'm having a hard time seeing why I need to go with an ETX, which is 40lbs heavier, more bulky, and costs several hundred dollars more.
I scored a pair of almost new ETX15 tops at half price from a owner who thought his ETX were clipping too early, lucky for me he didnt read the manual and realize it was just a limiter light (not a clip light) that practically stays on by EV's design and is NOT a result of over driving. Its actually very difficult to make an ETX truly "CLIP" without intentionally over driving or abusing it. Well, his loss my gainSold my EV speakers. Clipped WAY too easily for my liking.
