we're setup ready to go. I wish we could have passed on this gig tonight. Got another driverack and using that tonight. I just wish we didn't have to work tonight. Not because of the gig itself. It's brutally cold outside! It's got to be at least minus 10 below with the wind chill factor. I parked the van about a half a block away from the hotel and almost froze to death. It's really too cold for anybody to be outside. They are having a concert at the Prudential Center tonight. We're a block away at the Indigo hotel on the corner of Broad Street and Edison Place. This hotel used to be a bank years ago.

We're on the rooftop that's closed in. Small spot. Just using the 2 powered tops. That's all we need for this venue. We're in the middle of the room. I plan on taking pictures and some video. The event is from 9pm-1am. 4 hours. Simple gig. They used to have a cigar lounge they would have parties in but somehow they don't have that place anymore. Someone doing taxes took over the space.

This appears to be another bar gig? As close as this is to Manhattan, Long Island and the Hamptons, one would think there is certainly some money up there.

No not a bar gig. It's a birthday party that was postponed because the original day the party was to be we had a bad snow storm 4 days I think before the day of the party. We got over a foot and a half of snow. There was no way anybody could get there. So it's going down tonight. The coldest night so far this winter. Tomorrow is supposed to be 0 degrees withoutthe wind chill factor. I got to go out tomorrow. I'll be in New Brunswick. Not doing a gig but something else.

I didn't get it. The guy working with me got a guy that he did work for give him one brand new out the box. All I know it's a DBX. The one that cost $350. The one below the one I had that I sold because I could never figure out how to hook it up. He got it hooked up and it's working .

I know you won't listen to me and I don't know why I'm bothering to type this but please read the manual and tutorials on how to use it or you will be here next week with blown speakers

Don't worry everything thing is fine. He got it hooked up right. He asked his brother how to hook it up. This brother has equipment that he can do a festival with.
 
At least you have a gig. I for one am glad I DON'T have a gig tonight. I went walking on my nightly neighborhood walk earlier. I uaually do 1 solid mile, and if it's nice out go 1.5 miles, BUT I only went .5 miles tonight because I couldn't take the wind and freezing cold. It's 14 degrees out right now...when I walked it was like 19 with 20 - 30 mph wind gusts.

My Dad is the only one working tonight in our company. He is deejaying a Valentines Dance at the American Legion he has been performing at for 8 years. They had a group of 45 from Baltimore taking a Bus down to Ocean City tonight for this dance. I thought that was cool. Surprisingly he had 2 gigs this weekend, both from the Legion. My next gig isn't until March 5th. February is DEAD! My wallet is suffering, but I am relaxing as much as I can. Went out earlier today and ate a Ribeye Steak lunch at Longhorn Steak House. Tonight been drinking rum and diet pepsis and watching the GOP Debate LOL. I need to make sure I'm completely sober when I vote in April though! :)

I woke up this morning and saw the news. It said the temperature was 1 degrees. It's up to 5 degrees right now. The guy working with me last night played the music. Wanna be DJs kept coming to him to play this and do that. He did a great job. He kept his cool. The crowd was dressed up ghetto people. I took some pictures and video. I was bored. The best thing was getting paid which is what it's all about in the first place.

So aside from parking the van, what did you actually do? From what I can decipher here, this was somebody else's gig.

it was mine. I got the call. I just decided to let him play. I did a gig on Friday afternoon from 4-7 and they loved me!

The problem isn't in hooking it up anyone with basic audio experience can figure that out fairly quick it's what you do with it once it's hooked up that can cause damage that's why I advise reading up on it and understanding how it works and what purpose it serves but hey what do I know
