I haven't forgotten you all... I'm writing copy for the site AND trying to work on that whole spice store thing, while creating a blog for that, AND also working my FT job... oh, and BTW, I joined a gym, so add working out into the mix. :sqerr::sqbiggrin:

i am all over it..great idea..would love to be a part of it.

it might make sense to pay someone to make a great looking page that everyone could add on to their website. I would imagine with a group of us, the page wouldn't cost that much for each of us.

That is a possibility, though I was planning on letting everybody create their own. I have a whole site dedicated to my retro parties.

We will be creating a "button" for a link back to the main group site. That button will be MANDATORY on your own sites.

Are you going to have someone work on the SEO stuff? Want to make sure you get maximum exposure. :)

Well we hope it will be Davy. We did get a "quote" from him.

Here is the TEXT ONLY portion of the home page:

Welcome To RetroDancePartyUSA.com, a FREE* service for putting DJ's and Clients together. RetroDancePartyUSA.com is for Clients* and DJ's who share the common love of Retro Music, Classic Top 40, Oldies, or whatever you like to call it! We just like to call it good dance music from days gone by. Whether you like to dance to it, play it, or both, this site is for you if you need a DJ who loves to spin these songs, or whether you are a DJ who wants to spin these songs.

Perhaps you feel as we do, that the music of today crosses the line lyrically. Maybe you prefer your music to be more than 98 BPM when you're out on the floor. Possibly you just want to relive the music of days gone by. Whatever your reasons are, you know that you love this music and love to dance to it! Whether you love Motown, Disco, New Wave, Classic Rock, Alternative, or just about any of the music from the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's, RetroDancePartyUSA.com is your source for helping you make the connections you need whether you are a Client or a DJ. And it is all FREE!

Our DJ's specialize in music from those decades, but many of them can go back even further than the 1960's, and many will play current music as well. So, what makes us "Retro"? Well, the DJs who advertise on this site have made an agreement with RetroDancePartyUSA.com to be willing to supply more than just the music of decades gone by.

What does that mean?

Well, it means that these DJ's have agreed to supply lots of special lighting or momentos that date back to those FUN TIMES! DJ equipment may vary from DJ to DJ, but basically it means that they will supply at least "some" of the following.

1. A Real Mirror Ball

2. Black Lights

3. Strobe Lights

4. Traffic Lights

5. Turntables ( this is by no means required by our DJ's, but some may supply it to add ambience to your event )

6. Lava Lamps

* As this is a FREE service for both DJ's and their clients, RetroDancePartyUSA.com assumes no liability for either DJ performance or client's payment for services rendered. RetroDancePartyUSA.com is merely acting as a conduit for both parties.

* Client refers to the relationship between the DJ that gets hired and his or her customer. It does NOT refer to a relationship between RetroDancePartyUSA.com and anyone who uses this site.

Here is the text for terms and conditions.

RetroDancePartyUSA.com is a free service to help DJ's find clients who would like to have events with a Retro feeling. To get listed you must agree to the following terms and conditions. The below terms and conditions may be modified at any time. If this occurs, your company will be notified. You can, at that point decide to agree to the new terms and conditions, or have your listing removed.

1. You agree to post a link back to RetroDancePartyUSA.com on your site. RetroDancePartyUSA.com will supply that link. The link must be posted on your site within 14 days of your becoming listed on RetroDancePartyUSA.com.

2. This link must be in a prominent place on your site.

3. You are free to create an entire website devoted to Retro events, but at a bare minimum, you will be required to devote at least one full page to Retro events. In the event that RetrosDancePartyUSA.com finds your page or site to be lacking enough quality content, we will contact you and ask you to make your page or site more complete. If you choose not to do this you can request to be removed from RetroDancePartyUSA.com. We can also remove you for non compliance.

4. As a DJ you agree to provide the elements to create the "ambience" that your clients are looking for. This includes music, props, and lighting. We will leave the exact details to you and your clients, however we will encourage your clients to inform us of the quality of service you provide. In the event that we receive complaints, RetroDancePartyUSA may, at its sole discretion, remove your listing from the site.

5. All DJs that advertise on this site MUST provide a phone number where we can reach you as well as a mailing address, as well as an email address.

Folks, just use common sense here. We want to provide QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT at fair prices. We want you to provide QUALITY EQUIPMENT for these events. We hope that this site evolves into more than just a listing directory. What all that entails, we are not sure of yet. But we know that it DOES mean that we try to give our clients all that they expect and more. We currently have in place a deal with an equipment distributor who will offer a small discount if you mention that you are a member of this site.

We hope to offer more benefits as time goes on. We also HOPE to maintain the ability to list your site for free. This can not happen if your clients are not satisfied. Do the best job you can, and provide the best equipment that you can.

You must agree to these terms and conditions to be listed on RetroDancePartyUSA.com

If any of you have done any retro parties and would like to contribute a photo or two, we would love to have them. Just try to make sure that the photo has some "retro' elements in it.

BTW, I have a cool idea for the site as soon as I can "scam proof" it. We plan to have your clients send us reviews of your work. If we start noticing that someone is doing an EXCEPTIONAL job, I think we will offer a FREE rotating banner ad for one month.

Also, the ever generous Ben has agreed to offer a discount to all RetroDancePartyUSA.com members when purchasing "Retro" gear... strobes, black lights....... but you need to mention the site when placing the order.

Bumping this up because it would be a HUGE help to us if you can supply one or two. Thanks.

I spoke with Travis about 2 hours ago. It looks like we "should" have it up and fully functional by Christmas. Silly me... I thought Travis could have this thing built in 6 hours. :sqerr::sqwink:

Seriously, apparently this site is much more difficult to build than I thought. On the plus side, we are united in keeping it free for at least all of 2009, so you can't argue with the price.

That seems like a really long turn around time to build a website. :sqeek:

Randy, with all due respect this is not your average site, this has a lot of dynamic and interactive features most DJ sites do not have. Due to the complexity of this site, conferring with clients and actually doing the proof work does take time. It is also different dealing with two "investors" in different states and different time-zones. Again not what your ordinary DJ sites have. My brother, I'm not trying to throw daggers, I'm just trying to explain my POV.

Randy, although I am a busy guy, I'm not spreading myself too thin. A site with similar features will easily take 3 months from most corporate design companies. Plus I must ensure that the site meets strict XHTML compliance, and compliance among browsers, something that isn't easily done... Ask Chuck with MauiMobileMusic, we had an issue that we quickly got ironed out. CSS is rendered differently among browsers. To your credit, I will admit I am actively looking for some part time help in the office, this position will help my clients with the various activities I do, Video Streaming, Customer Service (you'll get to talk to a live person more often, since I am in college in the mornings), Updates, this guy will handle updates when projects like this come up, I know this will be attractive to some clients here who use me for maintenance services. I have a candidate, but am accepting other resumes.

I told Chuck 4 weeks to have the site fully functional, mind you we have had slow development last month, and an unclear vision, just now it has taken form. Also development time depending on how quickly communication between the two parties happen, delays occur because of this very often in the web-design/programming industry. Just tonight however, I have put in the zip code & state map searching from database. No matter where you're from, if a person searches a zip code from 250 miles away from your zip code, you will be found in our database. Now, the site could theoretically be completed in two-three weeks if all go according to plan.

I hope this somewhat explains what the deal is behind the scenes.

My fault.... Between the World Series and working on the Spice Store ( yet another meeting tomorrow and possibly Friday ) I have been swamped.
