Show Me Your Laptop Set Up

This is an old picture of my old rig, but, it's very similar to what I am using now (kinda/sorta).

I had two copies of DJ Power loaded. Each laptop was completely redundant.

Now, I went to 17 inch screen Dells, and I am using PCDJ VJ on both of them, along with Chauvet ShowXpress X-box for lighting.

I still have these older notebooks for back up and ceremony system machines.

I switched about a year and a half ago. I use a mini computer now. These are some pics of the first gig I used it.

I'm using OTSAV Pro. The monitor mount comes from DJRak. I modified the case, it clears the lid and all closes up nice. A towel between the monitor screen and the equipment when the monitor is folded down prevents damage and scratches on the screen. This setup works excellent for me. The Denon DN-HD2500 is backup, and there is also a CD player backup.

Best,

Paul

Looks like a very nice Vinyl collection back there.

LOL! Yep.......a tad over 12,000 albums. I don't play out with vinyl anymore however I still listen to it. A lot of material there that never made it to CD.

I DO NOT miss hauling crates of vinyl to gigs~!

Best,

Paul

Systems

Thought you guys might like to see one of my consoles.....The one with
the Mackie 1530's is from 2002, before adding more stuff, the other 3 -
current.......Use the Computer for DJ, and have a second one on a table
to the side........... Still use the triple tray JVC players for Karaoke - 100%
backup........ I've added Sabine feedback exterminators on the left,
light controller in the center, and cordless receiver on the right.....

The mixer is a Mackie CFX-12 - use those in the 3 consoles.....I'm now
using LED rope lights to illuminate the players, and under the shelf.....

I wanted to point out how handy the cords store, with bicycle hooks
hanging from the shelf.........and I use the little rubber wrist bands
like you'd get at church or a wedding to hold the cables in place during
transit....I just fasten them to the top of the bicycle hook with a nylon tie-wrap.....The big bundle of cables is a karaoke snake - mic, power & video...

In this console there's also an amp for using monitor speakers if needed....

On the left - the most important equipment in the system - 3 speed fan !

I've built 3 of these consoles - I load them into the trailers with the wheel
chair ramps which we discussed in another thread....

Awesome job on the consoles Paul! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks - I was a broadcast engineer for 30 years.........this kinda stuff is
just in my blood.........beginning to think I could use a transfusion.......

I'm beginning to think you need to make custom stuff and sell it. I know stuff like this would be a big sell for some. Make it per order and name your price on this stuff. I think there are some of us that will pay for this custom stuff just because we like to be different.

Yeah........the active speakers are really nice - I doubt that I'll ever discard
the CD players completely - even if I go computer on Karaoke...... With my
weddings, I always put the specialty songs on CD - Still the most reliable, and
least likely way to screw up a wedding dance or a father daughter dance - 'nuff
sed! I forgot to mention that I put Behringer UCA202 usb interfaces right in
the consoles also, so I can connect them right to the computer with one usb
cable.........

Ok -

As promised. The following pictures are reprinted with permission from the owner, Mr Ron Auger....AKA "Cuddles"...;)

I'm doing the same thing, but using a solid piece of wood...heh heh, I said "wood"...vs the plastic peg board, which no one seems to carry anymore.

Cheers,

Joe

I'm not sure if the pictures will be part of the quoted material, but can you elaborate on what you did to mount the pegboard (or what could be any piece of wood) to the PVC piping?

I picked up a 2'-length 1" PVC pipe with the clamps that will screw into the side of the case, because I'd like to do something similar to what you've done and Ron have done to your SKB cases.

Dang! All great minds run the same channel.

Gotta love Shutter Stock.
12 downloads-$49 :)

Mate gave me the same pics for free :) cost me $0.00

Nevermind - I ended up finding the bracket/adapter that allows one to fasten some type of wood on one end to make the shelf and insert the PVC pipe in the other side:

Problem solved.
