The latest wedding set up from Peavey....LOL

Well, I'm digital, but I haven't settled on all my components and rack.

What do you think of this? Will it work?

10u slant top rack with slide back tray for lappy
4u bottom for power conditioner

In the slant I'd like to have a Denon X-900, HC4500, and HD2500 for backup. I think it will all fit? Anything I'm missing? I already have a rack with 16 channel mixer and I guess I'd have another old mac lappy I have to play a CD off to the side. I think it will all fit. I know the HD2500 and HC4500 are both 3U. And I think the X-900 is 4U. Not sure.

3+3+4=10U. Yes?

Keep in mind that the 2500, 4500 and 900 all require deep mounting depth..... so you may over shoot into the 4U bottom and may actually only have room for 3U in the bottom.... that's the problem I had with the DJ Capsule.... I was figureing on mounting my dual deck in the 2U below but couldn't .....

I will shoot some picks tomorrow of my setup at Notre Dame and you'll see what I mean.

Great point about depth. I think I'll go 6U or 8?

It's all dependant on what case you go with.... according to Ben the Gator cases have enough depth in the slant top to accomodate the Denon stuff.... leaving the bottom fully useable. But, I have yet to find a Gator case with a sliding laptop shelf.... so I'm resigned to use a separate Laptop stand as you'll see once I post my pics....

I was thinking the same thing :(

I know that you said you had seen mine but it made a couple of changes in the last year or so.

Man, that setup must weigh a tom with all that diamond plate. But is sure looks SWEET.

Not sure about Marathon quality, but this is something like I have in mind...

The only thing that worries me about a case like that is the sliding laptop shelf.... as I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, you have to be careful not to push the shelf off the back end. So, unless there is a way to lock it in position I'd be very wary of it.

All the pretty lights and buttons! very impressive!

But I look at a couple of things in a system (now that I am old and falling apart)

I like DJ Express' system out of all those shown for two reasons.

1. Simplicity

2. weight/size

But:

The cords could be better organized and the external hard drive will fit into the back of the SKB case!

Use wire casing of some type and run all of your laptop cable from the case to the lap top in casing , that way hard drive, wall warts and power supplies are all inside the box and basically you have just one run of cable srom the case to the laptop. If it is available for your laptop look into getting a docking station!

I have a system very similar to this. I own the odyssey version of this, there is no way the back just slides off. But as thunder said these are heavy. If your trying to lighten the load this is not it. But with this said I love the system and it works great for me. This video is of our system you can see what and how I'm running it. But I will tell you the system with the top on weighs about 80 pounds there is nothing lite about it. But I have everything that I could need even for back up.

I have flight cases for my turntables and they are heavy enough. When it came time to buying a new rack for my new digital set up I knew that flight cases were not going to be an option. I bought a SKB shuttle and its nice and not heavy at all! My advice would be to stick to skb molded cases if you are on the road a lot or have a bad back!

Actually the looks are deceiving.

Total (and I am guessing) is probley around 40-45 pounds. That is rack and gear.

It is constructed of (2) 2'x4' plastic LifeTime tables with the steel legs removed.
There are (4) pieces of light weight aluminum tubing for uprights between the tables that weigh less than the legs did.
The Tread-Bright is 1/8" and only weighs maybe 7 or 8 pounds.

I can pick it up on my shoulder and carry it if need be but it is awkward because of its size.

I have some photos of the build but I have to find them.

This one is less than glamourous but will give you some idea. There is really not much too it BUT the big plus is that I can pile 300 pounds or gear on it and roll it in.
