Slight Miscalculation

Thanks... I'm hoping it works out well. It may just end up being my best controller, but I'm gonna miss my little DP2... it was a great choice for a beginner DJ like me.[emoji4] The MC6000 has WAY more features than I need... maybe I can figure out how to use some of them.[emoji1] The best thing though... Steve149 has one. Must mean I'll be a REAL DJ when I get mine.[emoji1]

I've been told that since I use auto playlists and sync and such .. that I'm not a DJ. SO you too can be a JPPer (Just Push Play-er)

There's a certain bunch who say you're not a REAL DJ unless you mix live and beat match, and another bunch that say you're not a REAL DJ unless you have the "right" professional gear.[emoji1] Since you have all the "right" professional gear, let's go with the latter bunch.[emoji1]

Denon MC6000 would combine the controller and mixer and is rackable ... only issue is you'd need to do surgery on the front of the case as it also has front mounted controls.
My case that houses the 6000 has a sliding laptop stand and the front has a cover that comes off to allow you to get to the front controls. It's super compact and easy to carry.

I have cases like yours for my American Audio and Pioneer controllers, but those are used with my LARGE system, so they sit on a table above my rack and I plug a USB and power cord into the rack. The MC6000 is intended to become the center of my SMALL system... integrated... no rack to plug into. I'm trying to reuse the molded plastic case I already own, rather than buy another case for $200-$230.

I have thought about it though, and all I'll have mounted in my small rack case is the controller, power distribution unit, computer, and keyboard drawer. There's also a small Ground Loop Isolator in there. It would be technically possible to get all that (except the keyboard drawer) into a hard case like the Gator Cases G-TOURDSPDDJSXRX. It kinda depends on how much room there is under the controller. I'd have to get a different computer case, because the 1U rack-mount (computer case) I have it in now would be too wide. The motherboard is only a mini-ITX model though, and could be mounted in a much smaller computer case. If I had to buy a new case, though, I would have to give this idea some serious consideration. I'm pretty sure I even have another post for mounting a monitor arm inside a controller case, like I have in my American Audio and Pioneer controller cases. There would be some additional cost and work involved, but it might be worthwhile.

After posting this reply to Mix, I got to thinking about this option more and more.[emoji1] The worst thing about being retired and alone at home with two dogs is I have lots of time to think about stuff[emoji1]... but nobody to bounce these ideas off of and tell me I'm crazy.[emoji1] The dogs won't tell me I'm crazy because they're crazy their own selves.[emoji1] So you guys are my only source to bounce these ideas off of.

So I started thinking about what I'd have to buy in order to bring the above scenario to fruition... Already bought the controller (it's on the way) ($445). I'd have to buy the hard case for it ($250 +/-)... a computer case ($100 +/-)... keyboard drawer's gotta go, so new wireless keyboard/mouse combo ($50 +/-)... Surge protector/power strip for inside the case ($30 +/-)... Basically around $450 total. Then I started thinking; Why buy a computer case? Why not just buy a new All-in-one computer?[emoji1]

I don't like using a laptop for DJing, as most of you already know. Even the 17" ones are too small. I have (dual) 22" monitors, and I'd have gone even larger than that if I thought it wouldn't look too crazy.[emoji1]So I started thinking; I could get a new All-in-one computer and mount it on my VESA bracket just like I mount my monitor, and then I wouldn't have to worry about reworking the existing computer and fitting it in the controller case.[emoji1] Downside... the only manufacturer that makes an All-in-one computer with VESA mounting capability is Dell. I went through this a few months ago before I bought my iMac.

Then I thought iMac??? What if I used my iMac with my new controller. It isn't VESA mountable, but you can buy this really ugly VESA mounting bracket to attach to the stand, and then I could mount it on my monitor arm. I could even do some surgery and cut off the stand to make it look less ugly, but it WOULD certainly kill the resale value of the iMac (but do I even care about that?).

And then I got to thinking, if I'm gonna do that, why not just do it with my existing Pioneer DDJ-T1, and do it with that controller case? The Pioneer controller is my backup controller for my large system, but it could certainly become my small system if I used it with the iMac.[emoji1] But...but... then what do I do with the new MC6000, the old small rack and computer and monitor???... [emoji1]... There MUST be a way to reuse these things???[emoji1]

The 2011 models were... The model I have (2015) you can't even remove the stand without completely disassembling the case. The VESA brackets you can get clamp onto the stand.

I knew about this issue before I bought the iMac, but if you recall that thread, I was upgrading from a laptop that was only 6 years old. Buying another 6 year old computer (just for the VESA mount) didn't make sense.[emoji4]

Only thing about using the iMac (for a DJ computer) is that I've kinda gotten used to having it in my office. There's stuff it does better than my Windows computers and VM's.[emoji4]

Crammed all this into a similar size box (closed back, built in side fan) and enjoying the MC6000 mixer (except for the mic stage, DBX go rack piped into ch 4 line for mics) nice and compact with another amp under the table since I am a passive kinda guy :)

Nice job!. When I bought my case, it was because it was lighter than a case like yours, but in actuality, the weight difference isn't so much when all the gear is mounted in it. If I find that I MUST buy a new case, one like yours is certainly an option.[emoji4]

It is funny seeing all that stuff, with a mouse on the side with a piece of rug! Believe me, I'm just as bad - for the life of me, I have no idea how people can be so comfortable using a pad on the laptop.

I don't .. every laptop has a wireless mouse .. I think I bought 10 of the little Logitech M325 mice when someone had them on sale for like $10.
