Not bashing, I got Peter's book right away and the concepts have already helped me in weddings this year. I really think he would nail it the first time.

Say hello to your girlfriend, Dawg! :sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

Rick

I already did. She says "Hi" back.

Geezzz...

I was hoping to centralize it, so not to bother people who don't care about bubble parties.

That's exactly what I had tried to do with all of your posts last month... hmmmm?

Jon... As a "safety issue", this shouldn't be kept secret! Indoor parties can be fun and safe if you take a few precautions. First, use mats if you can (I'll post a picture below). Kids slip and fall all the time... so a soft mat is a great idea. Second, have a mop or sponge handy to keep "swabbing" the floor (or mat). Towels are also a good idea.

Then, MOVE! In other words, move the kids to different spots on frequent occasions to let the "old" spot dry. Simply turn your machine(s) to have the bubbles land in a different area. If you're on top of carpet, use towels spread out, then change them as they get moist.

It can get slippery outside just as easy. When grass gets wet, it gets slippery. Make sure you are on a LEVEL spot so there isn't a slope slip issue. Use common sense on wet surfaces.

Any other safety ideas???

And I was against it then, but gave it some thought. I still don't know if I like either idea.

Personally, as I mentioned, I think I would like an opt in forum, simlialr to the Pub.... and maybe even more restrictive than that. Still pondering.

I'll share a good one...

Since my wife is a toddler teacher, she has a TON of ways to keep kids entertained during the day... I should write a book too!

Use several rolls of toilet paper and have teams of kids "mummy wrap" partners. Since each child will want to get "wrapped" this will use up at least 10 minutes of time and be a total blast for the kids. It will also give you time to dry the floor or mats.

Make sure to take a picture of every kid when wrapped, so mom will want one (moms will buy pictures of their kids in this situation... think about it!).

I have more!

How do you sell them? Do you have a printer with you? Burn an image to disc? Nice idea!

Didn't think of that...

Great idea... bring a printer to the event (rather than e-mail the image, which was what I was thinking).

This would be an "up-sell" when offering the package. You could sell an instant "Bubble Party Photo Album" for a given price, or sell the images on the spot to who ever was interested.

Nice!

Right... you get one of those 4x6 photo printers ( no PC necessary type ).... AND email the image... $5.

Not to disrupt the current train of thought on this thread and this may be a dumb question, but I was curious as to how everyone is handling the business end of the "Bubble Parties". I've gotten 2 bookings strictly WOM, both at daycare facilities.

Is everyone using regular DJ contracts, special BP contracts, sending invoices, or just showing up with their hand out? Obviously, I go with what works for the client and gets me paid as soon as possible, but I was wondering if anyone else has some experience to pass along with this aspect.:sqerr:

Private Parties would be a regular contract, I know, so this is specifically daycare and preschool facilities.

Thanks, folks!

Rick

Good question...

I re-worded my normal contract, so that it ONLY applies to bubble parties. I put in it that I get paid before the performance too.

That's the way I was thinking. I like the idea of stipulating upfront payment, also. Are there any other "special" clauses you include that I may overlook? How do you handle the indoor/outdoor thing?

Thank you, gentleman!

Rick

BTW, if I may chime in...I like the opt in forum idea. But then again, this seems to be working.

OK, so HOW can we make more money with these?

Well, like I said, I have tons of additional things we can play and do beyond just the bubbles. But the idea of pictures is intriguing. I don't know how many moms would pay, or how much they would pay, though.

Mostly my thinking is just making a party last longer. Also, I charge more for private parties than daycare parties.

BTW, and I think this is a GREAT idea... I bought about $75 worth of those crappy items that Oriental Trading Company sells... superballs, rubber bracelets, and I can't remember what else.... anyway, I give one away in a bag to every child in attendance. I staple them shut. Inside are also my business cards and a small informational sheet.... about bubble parties AND my adult DJ services.

For 30 kids it costs me about $5.

Wayde, I got them from Electronic Bargains at John A's suggestion. Nice guys and said they would ship today. I'll let ya know in this thread when I get them.

Rick

I got the Bubble Kings today and all I can say is those babies can really put out the bubbles. Whoa....I only filled up one, but I can see with 2 it is gonna be a "Bubble Wonderland". Hoping to get everything together by this weekend, maybe throw a neighborhood freebie in my back yard on Sunday, and then be ready for my first bona fide show on the 25th!

Rick

Rick, as awesome as they are, they still stink if the wind is too strong, or swirling. But I bet they are the best bang for the buck no matter how you slice it.

I already noticed a tendency to soap or froth up in the chute that's a little aggravating. Most bubble machines do that. I also think it's partly the bubbles, which are Miracle Bubbles (found a couple of grosses at Target). I used to use Toys R' Us Bubbles and they were great. Missed out on them this year.

I was a little surprised at the size of the Bubble Kings. They look HUGE to a 3 year old.

Rick

OK, any bubble party people going to Camp Mobile Beat? Roll call!:sqcool:

Rick

Maybe. I absolutely hated it last year. I couldn't stand the showroom area. And, unfortunately the day I went there were no seminars that interested me. "If" I go this year it will be M, T, or Wed.... NOT Thursday.

Wait... no I am not.... I might go to DJ Times in AC... my bad, as they say.

I am, at the very least, going to be up there for Thursday. It sucks that it's a whole day of just the showroom between the two "real" days. I considered going two seperate days, but I don't know if I'm up to the 2.5 hour drive each way on two different days.

BUMP...

Papa, so you want this thread as a sticky or let it go off into the sunset?
