AND YOU HAVE TO BE "IN" THE BAR, IN ORDER TO FIND THE NEWSPAPER THAT ADVERTISES THE BAR YOU ARE ALREADY IN.
AGAIN REREAD WHAT I SAID. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN THAT PARTICULAR BAR TO READ THAT PAPER. IT'S IN PLENTY OTHER BARS AS WELL THAT ADVERTISE WITH THEM! SO YOU CAN GET IT IN ONE PLACE AND READ ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN ANOTHER PLACE.. I PICK THEM UP FROM TIME TO TIME TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON WHERE.

Just in case anyone else is as sick of this as I am, I'll remind you that this is here...

OK, you have to be in SOME bar to read it .. How are YOU going to get the people that aren't IN a bar to come?

Let's say it this way. People have to know about a place and what's going on there or they won't come there. No matter what the place is. It could be a grocery or furniture store. If nobody knows it exists how will they make money to stay in business? Something with the DJ business. If nobody knows about you how do you get work to keep your business going and growing?

And I just gave you a number of reasons why these publications don't work... as well as a number of suggestions as to what DOES work. Why are you stuck on the old ineffective ways.
It is about what I said earlier. Reaching people in more than one way. Not everybody is addicted to the Internet. Some don't deal with social media and some do. So how would you reach those who are not computer savey and don't have a Facebook page or other social media?

Just helping Mix .. he doesn't appear to hear too good.

I think we've all shown more kindness than Mother Teresa, and more patience than Job.

Even if we don't put him on ignore, as I've said before, we should all just stop responding to him.
The entertainment value is long gone and even his value of being a poster boy for what not to do as a dj is wearing thin.

Chances are... if they're too old to not know facebook/social media... they don't belong in a club, nor is that the owner's desired clientele. Owners want well established people, willing to spend money, and can socialize... and stay out late to keep spending money. Those days of "text groups" and calling and stuff like that are LONG GONE. No established promotion team in NJ uses these techniques and there's a reason for it. Remember the days of flyers and handing those out on the street... well those days are gone too. You gotta get with the times. I keep on saying how people don't want to adapt and how they get left behind, and you're my prime example. No offense, and while I feel bad, its not like we cant say that proper advice wasn't given to you... but I can't see you lasting that long in this place with the mindset you're bringing to the table. Even if you work for free... someone else will work for free that may have better connections than you and be more beneficial to the venue.

Please go out to a real venue (outside of your town) and see how they are successful.

Where did you see where I said I won't adapt? I said using more ways than one to communicate with people. Some people like to text. That's their way of communicating. Some it's Facebook. Some people will use the lost art of calling someone to talk to them over the phone. It's not about what I like to do. I hate texting but I will text when I need to or post on Facebook.

My reason for not being crazy about Facebook is too much stupid shit gets put on Facebook.

Thank you, Steve.

You see, Mix...I know damn well what you were saying. I don't need to re-read it.
That paper will only be seen by people who already go out to bars.
The trick is getting NEW people to come out...people that will never see that little newspaper.

Maybe to find your potential clients, a visit to the Senior Center might help. Then you can work with the staff to get a bus to the bar on Sunday nights for them.
